Plot. Jamie Ashen and his wife Lisa receive an anonymous gift of a ventriloquist doll called "Billy". When Jamie goes out, a figure kills Lisa. Jamie returns to find that her tongue has been cut off; he is arrested for presumably killing her.
Then Jamie finds his dad who he discovers is nothing more than a life-sized doll. Then he realizes that his doll "father's" young bride was controlling the life-sized doll and was the ghost of Mary Shaw.
Mary Shaw had secretly created the "perfect doll", a life-size puppet that looks like an actual human woman named Ella Ashen. Through Ella, she was able to gain revenge against the surviving members of the Ashen family, namely, Ella's husband Edward Ashen, his son Jamie, and Jamie's wife Lisa.
Billy the Dummy is a ventriloquist doll from 2007 horror movie Dead Silence, where he belongs to and controlled by the main antagonist Mary Shaw. Long before the story, Mary killed a child from Ashen's family who heckled her ventriloquist performance, so people of Raven's Fair killed her by cutting her tongue.
She had no children only dolls. And if you see her in your dreams, be sure you never, ever scream." On the trailer it was, "Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children, only dolls. And if you see her do not scream, she'll rip your tongue out at the seam."
Jamie is also able to destroy Billy back at his father's place before Mary can kill him too, only to stumble upon yet another disturbing truth: His father has been dead this entire time, his corpse having been turned into a puppet controlled by Ella (hence her never leaving his side whenever Jamie is around).
Billy is a puppet that has appeared in the Saw franchise. It was used by John "Jigsaw" Kramer, often appearing on a television screen, or occasionally in person, to describe the details of the traps and the means by which the test subjects could survive.
What happened to Jamie at the end of Dead Silence?
The film ends with a shot of all the movie's victims, with Jamie's voice telling the rhyme about Mary Shaw. In the alternate ending (released as a DVD extra), Jamie doesn't die as Ella simply knocks him out after he discovers his father was a puppet all along.
Raven's Fair Cemetery is one of the settings from the film, Dead Silence. It was the resting place of Mary Shaw and her dolls. The cemetery appeared as one of the main settings in the Dead Silence: The Curse of Mary Shaw haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights: Carnival of Carnage.
Chucky, Annabelle, Billy, and Slappy are just a few nightmare-inducing names of toys that have been featured in horror movies over the years, freaking viewers out with their creepy glass eyes, cold porcelain skin and slow, eerie movements.
Vengeful sprits are often considered the most powerful among the various types of ghosts. These spirits are fueled by intense emotions such as anger, hatred, or a thirst for revenge, which grants them a formidable strength beyond that of ordinary apparitions.
Billy was a mechanical puppet resembling a male clown. His face was pale white with a protruding brow and cheeks that had red spirals painted on them. His red lips formed a grin, his eyes were black with red irises and his head was topped with black, messy hair.
Personality. The Puppet was originally an inanimate object and therefore had no personality of its own, until it was possessed by the spirit of a selfless and noble little girl named Charlotte Emily.
The name was given to him by his real life creator James Wan who is the director and co-writer of Saw. There is disagreement that the name is spelled "Billie", although James himself spells it "Billy". Though he actually has little to do with the plot, he has become the iconic symbol of the Jigsaw Killer.
Neil didn't hear Lisa's murder as he'd been upstairs practising his ventriloquist act with the water running so no one could hear him rehearsing – with Emma revealing that she killed her own father because his act "sucked". She then explains that she was responsible for her mother's death – not her father.
It is then revealed that Lisa has been hallucinating due to nitrogen narcosis and that she is still at the bottom of the ocean with her leg pinned under the cage, with Kate gone.
Anna finds Neil lying on the couch, his throat cut as well, with Emma standing nearby with the knife and blood splatter to confirm her as the serial killer. Emma comes clean about killing Lisa, saying she killed her dad's new girlfriend because she refused to buy chocolate boxes for her school.
And while the two detective characters could not be more different, with Matthews being far more belligerent compared to Lipton and his stubborn nature, both end up succumbing to rather disturbing deaths. The more obvious connection between Saw and Dead Silence is the use of a puppet "mascot" in their movies.
Lynn sacrifices herself by screaming and causing the Vesps to devour her and the cultists. The remaining members of the Andrews family are later shown up north alive and well with Ally's boyfriend Rob (Dempsey Bryk).
There's no nudity, sex, swearing and all the violence happens off screen. The views of the dead people--which are pretty gruesome--probably gave it the R. This is a good solid horror film.
