Since the alien is only present actively before you die of it or when it's looking for targets, you'll spend most of the time avoiding it while it's hiding in the air ducts above you. That's the scariest part of the game IMO, not seeing the alien.
Summary. Alien 3 almost ruined the franchise with its bad reception, but it would have been even worse if they used a script that killed off Ripley, Hicks, and Newt from the start. Eric Red's Alien III script had a controversial opening that revealed the deaths of all beloved characters, leading to a backlash.
While not as gory as most horror films, it's too intense for younger viewers. In its most iconic scene, a character is killed after an alien burrows out of his chest, shooting blood everywhere. Unrelenting suspense permeates every scene after the first 15 minutes.
There are a few jumps scares, but they are very well established with tension and setup so you know it is coming, not like some modern jump scares where it can be about true unexpected surprise for the viewer. Alien is one of my favourite movies.
He writhes in pain before-hand, with blood spurts onto his white shirt inside. Very disturbing. The close up of the would shows the alien rising from out of his torso, and is incredibly gory, meat and blood is shown. This scene is why it was given an R rating.
Parents need to know that Alien3 is not for kids. There is a heavy atmosphere of doom and hostility, even without the ravenous, clawed monster on the prowl. Ellen Ripley is surrounded by unfriendly men, who are, in fact, dangerous convicts, described as murderers, rapists, and child molesters, just barely…
The film faced problems during production, including shooting without a script and the attachment of various screenwriters and directors. Fincher, in his feature directorial debut, was brought in to direct after a proposed version with Ward as director was canceled during pre-production.
There is violence and blood, but both feel like something you would see in a PG-13 movie. The only reason Isolation is rated Mature is due to the swear words throughout the 20+ hour story; Ripley only intermittently swears when she is suddenly attacked or jumpscared.
The only form of actual gore is some of the corpses. One you can find of an employee early in the game has a hole in his face, as well as a slash across his stomach that has a gut or intestine poking out just a bit. Moderately graphic. Although violence is part of the game, it is used sparingly and deliberately.
