Jerry Lewis (born Joseph Levitch; March 16, 1926 – August 20, 2017) was an American comedian-actor, filmmaker, singer, humanitarian and entertainer. He was the most popular movie star from the 1940s to the 1960s, and he was an early and prominent user of video assist.
