The Lord of the Flies is a pig's head on a stick. Although the Lord of the Flies is a physical thing, it is a powerful symbol about fear. Since Simon is epileptic and dehydrated, he hallucinates in front of the Lord of the Flies.

After witnessing the death of the sow and the gift made of her head to the beast, Simon begins to hallucinate, and the staked sow's head becomes the Lord of the Flies, imparting to Simon what he has already suspected: The beast is not an animal on the loose but is hidden in each boy's psyche.
Roger represents the sadist, the individual who enjoys hurting others. His evil motives are different from Jack's, who pursues leadership and stature and enjoys the thrill of the hunt. Roger just likes to hurt people.

Lord of the Flies explores the dangers of mob mentality in terrifying scenes of violence and torture . Early on, the boys sing “Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood,” after a successful hunt, elevating their shared act of violence into a celebratory chant.
Simon is killed by the other boys on the island in a frenzied attack, mistaking him for the "beast" they fear. After Simon's death, his body is washed out to sea, and the boys continue to descend into savagery and chaos.
Simon's death presents irony in a few ways, most notably because he is coming down the mountain to prove to the other boys that the beast does not exist, then is mistaken for the beast and killed.

At the carnival, Simon rides the ferris wheel, and thinks Blue isn't coming. However, on Simon's last ride, Bram (one of Simon's friends) reveals himself to be Blue. They kiss and begin dating.
He is smart in some of the decisions and ideas he makes. Simon is the only boy on the island who is brave. He is not afraid of the savagery the boys experience first-hand, and when the meeting erupts into chaos when the beast is brought up, Simon does not scream or panic.
