The implication, and it's only ever just that, is that Elsa and Anna's mother is herself somehow attuned to the magical forces such that Elsa was given the gift of superpowers. (Why Anna never received such powers is equally vaguely defined: just as Elsa and Anna's father had no powers, so too would she be power-free.
The fact that granting Anna powers would invalidate or at least muddle the spirit-human bridge concept is only part of the issue. Aside from the logistical problem it poses, a sudden manifestation of magic in Anna would also take away from the beauty of her character.
In the past, Rapunzel had two daughters, Anastasia and Drizella, and made a deal with Mother Gothel to be locked in a tower in exchange for the safety of her family. Six years later, Rapunzel frees herself and when she returns to her family, she discovers she has gained a stepdaughter named Ella.

These strong female characters certainly have their weaknesses; they wouldn't be very interesting characters if they didn't. Elsa can be distant to the people she loves, she has trouble accepting help, and she fails to recognize her own limitations.
While Iduna's selfless actions were the reason Elsa was bestowed with ice powers to begin with, her daughter received powers instead of her because beings are born with elemental powers in the Frozen universe and don't acquire them later on in life.

Mulan is a powerful and savvy female heroine with military training who is also courageous and fearless even during life-and-death battles.
I keep seeing all these things about Elsa and Rapunzel being the same age since Rapunzel was 18 in Tangled (and supposedly Tangled Ever After) and Elsa and Anna's parents died while going to Rapunzel and Eugene's wedding, 3 years before Elsa's coronation where she was 21.
She has given birth to twins that she raises on her own until the Prince happens to find her. Rapunzel's tears magically restore his eyesight. Once his family is reunited and his sight is restored, he takes them back to his kingdom where they are celebrated.
She asked her lover to bring her linen threads, so she could do a rope out of them and use it to escape. Rapunzel got pregnant, and Gothel noticed this. Either that, or Rapunzel once incautiously exclaimed that the witch was much heavier, thus longer to lift, than her prince.
Elsa dies in Frozen 2, to an extent. While her body doesn't wither away, she is frozen like a statue and her powers are removed from the world, which is why Olaf begins to disintegrate into snowflakes.
Who is physically stronger, Anna or Elsa (without powers)? Without a shadow of a doubt I would say: Anna. Elsa might be older and taller than Anna but at the end of the day, when they were growing up, she didn't do a lot.
