The IT production team headed over the northern border to find the small town filming locations that brought IT to life. Predominantly shooting in Ontario, the IT filming locations revolved around the town of Pickering and Port Hope, both of which are popular filming locations for shows with US small-town feels.
It: Chapter One and It: Chapter Two are set in the fictional town of Derry, Maine. However, It was filmed in Port Hope and Toronto in Ontario (Canada). It follows the story of a group of children, The Losers Club, terrorized by a demonic entity that appears in the form of an evil clown, Pennywise.

Some interiors were filmed at a 1902 mansion in Toronto, Cranfield House, while homes in the city, and in Oshawa and Pickering, were used as exteriors. An old mansion set was built for exteriors of the Pennywise home, and later burned, in Oshawa.

King has shared that Derry is based in the town of Bangor, Maine, where he and his wife Tabitha now reside. King has even said that he took inspiration from the sewers of Bangor, which were poorly built and extremely difficult to map, which translated into the sewers in Derry where IT used to hide.

Not exactly. The Town is actually loosely based on Chuck Hogan's novel Prince of Thieves. However, Affleck did his own research into Charlestown in hopes of making the movie as accurate as possible.
But, there's an extended scene with the group jumping off a cliff into water at a quarry. The filmmakers took the set out of Rouge Park for this part and headed to nearby Elora. Specifically, the Elora Gorge, a popular local tourist attraction in the conservation area.

Before this dramatic ending, the film also has sequences in other quintessential Boston locations, including the Charlestown bridge. According to lore, when the Boston Police Department hears of a bank robbery happening in the city, the first thing they do is close the Charlestown bridge.
