Training Day (2001 movie): Why did Alonzo leave Jake at the house of his informant? He left him there for Smiley to kill him. He decided to do that because of how Jake behaved at Roger's house when Roger was killed. Smiley was a gang member that worked for Alonzo, killing people.
Alonzo didn't actually need a warrant, he could have easily just killed the guy and taken the money, but he wanted Jake to see how the world really is. Alonzo give Jake an in with his crew of crooked cops when they kill the drug lord and take his cash.
