Following Curse, Chucky starred in a fun series of shorts titled Chucky Invades. The shorts saw the killer doll invading key scenes in four other horror movies: Drag Me to Hell, Mama, Psycho, and The Purge.
Directed and written by Don Mancini and released on October 8, 2013, Curse of Chucky is the sixth film in the series, and the first direct-to-video installment. It stars Brad Dourif, reprising the role from previous films, while his daughter, Fiona Dourif, plays new character Nica Pierce.

This movie is an ok movie, I love how they try bringing Chucky back to scary after his last movie which was mostly comedy. There is a scene where a woman has an affair with the nanny. Some kissing scenes. Nothing not for tweens.

Fascinatingly, Chucky also is a homage to a real-life story concerning an equally creepy doll from 1906. The doll is named Robert, and he had been gifted to a young boy from Key West, Florida, by the name of Robert Eugene Otto. Otto had a profound love for Robert and was said to have kept him right up to his death.
Yes, Curse of Chucky is not a direct sequel to Seed of Chucky. And yes, Glen/Glenda isn't mentioned at all here, nor are most of the plot developments from the last few films. But a whole lot of other elements are.
What is the difference between Curse of Chucky and Curse of Chucky unrated?
In the unrated version of Curse of Chucky the Barb death scene is more gory. (You see Chucky's knife stab into her eye). In the rated version of Curse, we see the back of Barb's head, and see Chucky's body lean forward and then hear her scream.
In a subsequent interview, Mancini described the remake as a darker and scarier retelling of the original film, but one that, while having new twists and turns, would not stray too far from the original concept. At a 2009 horror convention, Dourif confirmed his role in the remake.
Curse of Chucky doesn't actually show how Chucky was revived, the film simply has a Good Guy doll sent to the home of Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif). Though the film does have a different vibe than the previous two films, so perhaps the ambiguity was intended.
Curse of Chucky was released nine years after Seed, though the narrative picks up only four years after Seed's epilogue (and 25 years after the first movie).
