Journey of Water, Epcot's new Moana-themed walk-through attraction, has officially opened to visitors at Walt Disney World in Florida. The self-guided, tropical-themed experience is the first Disney parks attraction inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Moana.
How to Access Moana Journey of Water. Now that Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is open to the public, guests have a chance to experience this new walkthrough attraction via a standby queue. During peak times, a virtual queue may be used as needed, so be sure to double-check the day of your visit.

How many times can you use the Disney virtual queue?
Each Guest can request to enter the virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours. Before requesting to join a virtual queue, Guests must have valid admission and may need a theme park reservation depending on the type of admission and date of their visit. Tap the hamburger on the bottom right, then select the Virtual Queues tile. Make sure you've got EPCOT selected at the top so that you're looking at EPCOT's Virtual Queues. Scroll down until you see the Virtual Queue for Moana. If there's a Join button, then it's definitely using a Virtual Queue right now!
Moana is unlocked by opening the castle door leading to her realm. You will need to complete a series of quests and build a house for her in the Valley to get her to move in.
Head to Moana and give her the Oar, and then listen to the two of them have a conversation and make up. Maui will explain the Shards are Leader Shards, and another will appear. Pick it up and give it to Moana to complete the quest!
Moana's home island, Motunui, is fictional, but the production team drew a map of Moana's journey (which can be found in the book The Art of Moana) that places Motunui east of Tonga, near the real-world location of Niue. Te Fiti's island was based on Tahiti.

Do you have to be in the Disney park to join a virtual queue?
For the 7am queue, you need a park reservation for the theme park in which the attraction is located. You do not have to physically be in the theme park. For the 1pm queue, you have to scan into the tapstiles at Magic Kingdom for TRON or EPCOT for Guardians, so having a theme park reservation helps you get first dibs.
When Can I Join the Virtual Queue? Disney World opens its Virtual Queues at 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM each day. Spots in the virtual queue go quickly, so we recommend that you tap quickly and join the queue immediately at one of these times.
What's the difference between virtual queue and lightning lane?
The main difference difference between the 2 is cost: The virtual queue is free, but the Individual Lightning Lane will vary in cost per person (depending on the time of year).
The option for virtual queue at Disney World and Disneyland Resorts doesn't have an additional cost. However, guests who are interested in using the virtual queue must have a valid admission ticket and park reservation.
Plan ahead for at least some time in line. If an attraction has lengthy pre-shows, chances are you'll still go through those as part of your Lightning Lane wait. If an attraction has a virtual queue, your wait will still be a little higher than what you might expect. But lower than the virtual queue physical line!
What happens if I miss my virtual queue time at Disney?
The uncertainty with Virtual Queues return times creates some unavoidable conflicts with reservations or transportation. If you're only a little late, let the Cast Member at the ride entrance know what happened. Usually you'll be allowed to ride even though your group has expired.
