Universal Studios Hollywood is a film studio and theme park in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County, California. About 70% of the studio lies within the unincorporated county island known as Universal City while the rest lies within the city limits of Los Angeles, California.
Set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Jurassic World takes place on the same fictional island of Isla Nublar, located off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. A successful theme park of cloned dinosaurs, dubbed Jurassic World, has operated on the island for years, bringing John Hammond's dream to fruition.
All the Jurassic Park movies were filmed on the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai, Maui, and Oahu. That being said, in the movies, the islands are supposed to be located on the fictional Isla Nublar off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

The ranch is open to visitors almost every day of the year, but guided tours are required to visit the valleys and mountain ranges beyond the gift shop.
The town of Lourinhã in Central Portugal is often described as a real world 'Jurassic Park', a paradise of palaeontology like no other in the world. The spot was put on the map in the 1990s after the discovery of dinosaur eggs containing embryos on a local beach.
No non-avian dinosaur fossils have ever been found in Hawaii because the volcanic activity responsible for their creation did not begin until after their extinction. Hawaii therefore has rocks of both the wrong age and type to preserve dinosaur fossils. Most of Hawaii's animal fossil record consists of marine life.
Ultimately though, we need intact DNA to resurrect species. So, although scientists have made a lot of progress, the prospect remains in the realm of science fiction. All data from fossils and experiments to date suggests that DNA is simply unlikely to survive for tens of millions of years.
Isla Nublar is a fictional Central American island that serves as a major setting in the first novel and its film adaptation, as well as the films Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Most of the Jurassic World filming locations were centered around Hawaii's gorgeously lush green islands. Kualoa Ranch on Oahu, Kahili Ranch, Kauai, and many other sites where the majority of the scenes were shot.
Q: Is Kualoa Ranch where Jurassic Park was filmed? A: Yes, many portions of Jurassic Park were filmed at Kualoa ranch. The area is a popular movie site location, and besides Jurassic Park, other movies and television shows like The Hunger Games, 50 First Dates, Lost, and Hawaii 5-0 were also filmed there.
The “Jurassic World” crew filmed some shots at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. According to director Colin Trevorrow, “We did a day just shooting extras running and freaking out. We had like 15 different cameras up in trees.”

Kualoa Ranch, on the windward side of Oahu, is a lot more than just the filming area for some of the most famous scenes from “Jurassic Park,” “Jurassic World” and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (plus “King Kong” and “50 First Dates,” and six seasons of “Lost”).
There are six feature-length Jurassic movies — three Jurassic Park films and three Jurassic World films. The canon also includes two short films and an animated Netflix series, which we've included in the chronology below.
