Most Of Jaws 2's Exteriors Were Filmed On Navarre Beach & Surrounding Florida Areas. While Jaws 2 is completely set on and around Amity Island, the production couldn't only use Martha's Vineyard as a filming location and had to also shoot many exterior scenes in Navarre Beach, Florida.
When Szwarc took over, the majority of the film was shot at Navarre Beach in Florida, because the weather was warm and the water was deep enough for the shark platform. The company was at this location from August 1 until December 22, 1977.
It was not an actual island. At one point during filming, the Cable Junction set broke loose from its anchorage and had to be rescued. Director Jeannot Szwarc was contacted one night and told that his island was drifting towards Cuba, as the climax was filmed off the coast of Florida.
