Lightning McQueen – Corvette While McQueen is not modeled directly after a specific make and model, the artists mixed and matched elements of the Chevrolet Corvette C6 and Corvette C1.
Is Lightning McQueen a Corvette? While McQueen is certainly partly inspired by the C6. R Corvette, his bodywork is an original design inspired by many different race cars, but mainly based on the Generation 4 NASCARs that made up the top level Stock Car field when the movie was released in 2006.
Apparently, the animators at Pixar drew influences from many sources to create McQueen's final design. However, the two major car models he is based on are – the Chevrolet Corvette C1 (produced between 1953-1962) and the Chevrolet Corvette C6 (produced between 2004-2013).

Lightning even started to slow down because of the Next-Gens arriving and ended the season horribly with a near career-ending crash. Months later, McQueen recovered from the crash and was ready to race again.
He is a 1951 Hudson Hornet. Doc does not appear in Cars 2 due to Paul Newman's death, and it is implied that he died at some point after Cars. Doc appeared in Cars 3 in flashbacks being voiced by archival recordings of Newman.

Chick is a 1979 Shyster Cremlin, a fictional car based on and designed after a 1986 Buick Regal in NASCAR form. Chick is painted green, with the number 86 painted on his doors, and has yellow rims. He also has a grille, which serves as a mustache.
Dale is an Axxelo Fission, which is identical to the 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (NASCAR). He is painted red with the number 8 painted in white on his doors and roof. He has the Dale Earnhardt Inc.
Doc is the wise, quiet country doctor who run Radiator Springs' medical clinic. Before Doc slowed down in Radiator Springs, he was the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Now he uses his knowledge of racing to teach hotshots like Lightning to race smart, not just fast.
Dinoco may have been based on the Sinclair Oil Corporation (incidentally, the namesake for the Sinclair family in the TV sitcom Dinosaurs), which also uses an Apatosaurus in its logo.
