In the DC Comics universe, Mera is the wife of Aquaman who later becomes Queen of Atlantis and joins the Justice League. She and Aquaman eventually have a son named Arthur Curry, Jr., who is murdered by Black Manta.
Arthur and Mera are one of the first DC couples to have married in comics, going back to 1964. In 2014 with the New 52 relaunch her status from being married, was changed to be the fiancée of Aquaman. However at the end of Rebirth, Arthur and Mera marry again, the couple also has a daughter, Andy.
