The description of Darry shows him as athletic and also "tough, cool, and smart" (The Outsiders 7). He is six-feet-two and strongly built and appears older than twenty. He is described as having dark-brown hair like his father but unique, piercing, blue-green eyes with a serious cast to them.
He has an elfin face and icy blue eyes and, unlike his friends, does not put grease in his white-blond hair. Dally's violent tendencies make him more dangerous than the other greasers, and he takes pride in his criminal record.
Johnny Cade had big black eyes in a dark tanned face; his hair was jet-black and heavily greased and combed to the side, but it was so long that it feel in shaggy bangs across his forehead. He always had a nervous, suspicious look in his eye.

In The Outsiders, Cherry Valance is sixteen years old, and she is one of the "Socs" or "Socials," as the rich kids in town are called. Cherry is described as beautiful with long red hair and striking green eyes.
Dally has angular features that Ponyboy compares to an elf and a lynx. He has long, white-blond hair that he rarely cuts. Dally is also described with cold, icy blue eyes.
Ponyboy describes him as a puppy that has been kicked too many times, he has dark eyes and long dark hair, and he is slight for his age. Johnny has been beaten by his father and emotionally abused by his mother throughout his childhood and adolescence.
Johnnyboy. Johnny can count on his friends in his gang. But not on much else, besides having a crush on his best friend Ponyboy, who has no idea of Johnny's feelings. At least he knows what to expect when his friends have a different idea of what crushes should be like.
In an effort to blend in and disguise their appearances, Johnny cuts and bleaches Ponyboy's hair; Ponyboy in turn cuts Johnny's hair. Following Dally's orders, they stay inside the church and pass the time playing poker and reading aloud from Gone with the Wind.
As we know, Dallas loved Johnny. This is extremely important to not only the book, but this analysis. He fell in love with Johnny when he was too afraid to attach to anything else. The attachment grew so strong that when Johnny died, Dallas wanted to, too.
Bob has dark brown curly hair. Like all Socs, he wears dress pants with a button-up shirt and button-up jacket. He wears three heavy rings on his right hand, and he also has a Mustang, like most Socs, meaning that he prides himself in his good looks and cars.
Ponyboy realizes this truth after Johnny's death. When he tries to make sense of Dally's reaction to Johnny's death, it dawns on him, "Johnny was the only thing that Dally loved."
Appearance. Ponyboy is the youngest of the greaser gang. In the novel, Ponyboy has light-brown hair and greenish-gray eyes. He has a good build for his size and is a fast runner.
The introduction of Cherry, however, suggests that individual friendships can chip away at group hatreds. Cherry gets along perfectly well with some of the greasers. She likes Ponyboy and Johnny because they treat her politely. Dally's rude antics do not amuse her.
Appearance. Sodapop is described by Ponyboy to be "movie star handsome," and has silky, dark gold hair (described as real tuff) that he combs back. He has dark brown, dancing, recklessly laughing eyes and a goofy grin that you can't help but love (which is noted by Ponyboy after getting jumped by the Socs).
Sherri "Cherry" Valance is a Soc girl who plays a big role in The Outsiders, making her the main female, and the supporting deuteragonist of The Outsiders. Cherry is a 16-year-old girl who is very pretty and has long red hair,[1] and green eyes.
Hinton describes Dally's hair as "white"-blond" a good color for someone who could be an outsider from all groups. White contains all of the visible rays of the color spectrum.
