Darkseid. Darkseid (portrayed by Ray Porter), originally known as Uxas, is a New God who is the tyrannical ruler of Apokolips and the master of Steppenwolf and DeSaad.
Desaad was the loyal right-hand man of Darkseid as well as his advisor. The chief scientist on Apokolips, he was in charge of engineering Darkseid's equipment and creating new Parademons to be used in his search for the Anti-Life Equation.
A New God and military general from the planet Apokolips, Steppenwolf is the brother of Heggra and therefore the maternal uncle of Darkseid. He is commonly depicted as Darkseid's subordinate, commanding his army of Parademons in conflicts against Superman and the Justice League.
Marvel has several Superman analogs, and the most powerful is Hyperion. There have been several versions of Hyperion over the years, but the most formidable is the one who joined the Avengers and helped them battle against threats like Thanos and the Beyonders. That Hyperion would be able to defeat Darkseid.
In various DC Comics and many other adaptations, Superman has fought Darkseid in one-on-one fights and defeated him, making him one of Earth's greatest defenders against the Apokoliptian despot.
WHY HE CAN'T: Hyperion Is No Superman. Superman doesn't beat Darkseid because of how powerful he is; while that helps him survive the fight, Darkseid still outclasses Superman. Superman has learned to use his brains in battle against Darkseid, allowing him to win his battles against the dark god.
Just looking at the numbers, Darkseid would win. His Omega Beams wipe out anything they hit from existance, or in the case of Batman send that person back in time.
Doomsday as he appeared in Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey #2 (May 1994). Doomsday ranked as #46 on IGN's list of the Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time. He is best known as the character that killed Superman in The Death of Superman story arc "Doomsday!".
Darkseid is not afraid of Superman. He didn't come to Earth himself because Steppenwolf owed him thousands of worlds as a repentance of the Great Betrayal. Steppenwolf was afraid of Superman and referred to him as 'The Kryptonian'.
Phobia: Incredible as it may seem, Darkseid fears his father, Yuga Khan, more than anything else; Yuga Khan is the one being in the universe far more powerful and evil and was worse of a tyrant than even Darkseid.
Instead, he uses his servants to defeat his enemies for him. Apparently, Darkseid only fights opponents he deems worthy, such as Superman, Batman or Orion. Indomitable Will: Darkseid possesses an extraordinary control over his emotions, despite his reputation of anger and hatred towards all living things.
However, Steppenwolf betrayed Darkseid to enemies who wanted to seize the throne of Apokolips, but he later turned on the would-be usurpers, defeating them in the hope of correcting his error. Still, due to his betrayal, he was exiled from his home and tasked with conquering 150,000 worlds for his penance.
Ultimately, Steppenwolf was defeated by the combined efforts of the Justice League. Caught in the rage of his defeat, he leaves himself open to be impaled by Aquaman from behind. Superman then punches him to the boom tube and he is beheaded by Wonder Woman as he flies through, killing him and ending the invasion.
When Darkseid discover the planet Krypton and its people's drive for knowledge, he saw them as the potential tools to locating the Anti-Life Equation. However, when the Kryptonians thrived than he anticipated, Darkseid realized they are a threat to him and must be destroyed.
Steppenwolf didn't have super speed, couldn't contend with Superman's strength, and was even overwhelmed by his own parademons. Vision should be able to toss him around as Superman did, and his vibranium coating will ensure Steppenwolf gets the beating of his life.
Crossbones snipes at him while he was walking Sharon Carter (Agent 13; Cap's girlfriend), who has been brainwashed by Doctor Faustus, posing as a S.H.I.E.L.D. psychiatrist, delivers the killing shot. Overwhelmed with guilt, S.H.I.E.L.D. director Tony Stark and Black Widow hunt Captain America's murderers.
After an intense battle, the Anti-Monitor fuses the Black Racer with Flash and sends it after Darkseid. Using the fused Flash and his own powers, he kills Darkseid. With Darkseid dead, the universe is unbalanced as it has lost its God of Evil.
With power levels possibly even far above Superman's, including almost incalculable strength and an enigmatic power known as the 'Omega Effect,' Darkseid is one of Superman's most powerful and recognizable foes.
The Avengers would win, only if they were fighting together (Thor, Wanda, Strange, Danvers, Vision, etc) seeing that it took Atlantians, Amazonians and Zeus and Ares at their most mature form to defeat him.
He has superhuman speed and strength, and once fought Zeus to a standstill. Thor would certainly be thwarted by Darkseid. This fearsome villain would be able to drain the lifeforce from him, and even his godly weaponry doesn't seem like it could withstand Darkseid's Omega Beams.
Why does Darkseid respect Batman but not Superman?
He respects Batman because even though he lacks powers of any kind, his will is stronger than steel no matter what he faces. No one else is really like that, in terms of the main League members Darkseid has gone up against.
But then how did Odin beat Darkseid? WIZ: Odin tore the 4th world, the home of the gods, out of the divine sphere, thus Darkseid was no longer a higher dimensional being, just one god in one universe. This made it possible for Odin to kill Darkseid.
Usually, Darkseid is capable of beating down Superman in a fight, but it's often depicted as a close one-on-one fight that tests both to their limits. Here, Darkseid attacks as a genuine God of Evil, beating two versions of Clark Kent without breaking a swear.
