"Star Wars: New Jedi Order" brings back Daisy Ridley as Rey, set 15 years after "The Rise of Skywalker," focusing on her quest to reform the Jedi Order amidst a galaxy grappling with the need for its existence.
The next Star Wars movie from filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, will see the further adventures of Rey post the events of 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, one reported string being that the character starts up a Jedi Academy.
Rey Skywalker, known only as Rey throughout the First Order-Resistance War, was a human female Jedi Master who fought on the side of the Resistance during the war. A former scavenger from the planet Jakku, her life was changed by the tumultuous events of the last days of the New Republic Era.
In 'Star Wars,' Rey Was Originally Meant to be a Kenobi
At the beginning, there was toying with like an Obi-Wan connection.” After the release of Episode VII, fans were enthralled by the mystery of Rey's parents and who she was connected to.
Through their interactions they also show signs of a growing attraction towards each other. Kylo became very fond of Rey, and at one point she even begins to refer to him as Ben, and he lets her do it.
Parents debate. Some fans have speculated Rey to be either the daughter of Luke Skywalker and another woman or daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa, therefore the sister of Kylo Ren. She would also be the granddaughter of Anakin SKywalker and Padme Amidala.

Ridley felt that the kiss was earned and represented a farewell moment, as the pair had been through so many trials together, and Kylo Ren had returned to the light side. The scene felt emotional and Ridley felt like she was saying goodbye to her role in the Star Wars franchise.
Despite being enemies, Rey and Kylo Ren share a connection called a 'Force dyad' and eventually become romantically involved with one another. Following Palpatine's final defeat and her own resurrection, Rey adopts the name Rey Skywalker to honor her mentors and their family legacy and renounce her lineage.
Admittedly, Rey skills couldn't possibly be as developed as Anakin's or Luke's. Nevertheless, considering how fast of a learner she is, and how unique the powers she possesses are, it's not a stretch to say that Rey could be a more powerful Jedi than Anakin and Luke Skywalker.
Finally, Rey is Kylo Ren's aunt through Anakin Skywalker. This means that Kylo and Rey's romance is just as genetically awkward as Luke and Leia's kiss on Hoth was. Granted, neither pair knew they were related at the time, but that's no excuse.
Traditionally, yellow lightsabers are associated with Jedi Sentinels, who balance their combat skills with a strong focus on exploration and practical application of the Force. This choice reflects Rey's well-rounded training and her determination to maintain balance in the Force.
Seemingly abandoned by her parents on Jakku, Rey grew up a scavenger amid the wreckage of war. Her life changed when she agreed to help a droid on an urgent mission for the Resistance. Rey discovered she was powerful in the Force, and sought out the vanished Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to train her.
— then you know this Rey doesn't fall to the dark side in the end, but she does come close during the climactic battle with the Emperor. But instead, she vanquishes her grandfather and the Sith in turn, bringing back balance to the Force.
Kylo develops a close relationship with Rey and starts feeling genuine affection towards her, so when Snoke reveals that he had manipulated their bond and tortures her in front of Ren, he looks furious at his master. Thus, when Snoke orders Ren to kill Rey, he chooses to save her and kill his master instead.
He saw her as a useful tool for his rise to power. He was intrigued by the mystery surrounding her. He wanted closure for his defeat at her hands. He had a genuine emotional connection to her.
This mystery was especially prevalent in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but The Last Jedi overcorrected it by claiming Rey is not related to any established original trilogy Star Wars characters. Then The Rise of Skywalker revealed, in an out-of-left-field retcon, that Rey is the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine.
Rey was almost revealed as a Kenobi in Star Wars, an idea that would have radically changed the entire sequel trilogy. Although Rey ended up being Palpatine's granddaughter, director J.J. Abrams also considered making her a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi, a popular fan theory since the beginning of the sequel trilogy.
Theory: Snoke is technically Rey's uncle | Fandom. It's a strange thought but when you look at Palpatines clone family in Star Wars Canon it sounds more plausible than at first. Palpatines "Son" was a strandcast clone of Palpatine and yet because he fathered Rey he is still considered the son of the emperor.

Han Solo marries Princess Leia and they have three children: twins named Jacen and Jaina, and a younger son named Anakin. Luke reestablishes the Jedi Order, marries a non-movie (but fan favorite) redheaded Force-wielder named Mara Jade, and they have a son, Ben Skywalker (named in honor of Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi).
