Max has been in love with Roxanne and Mona. Max is often told that he is very much like his father, and his response is always along the lines of "Please don't say that" or "I wish you didn't say that". In spite of the denial, Max's mannerisms echo Goofy's sometimes including Goofy's laugh, scream, and clumsiness.
Roxanne is an anthropomorphic female dog and the tritagonist of Disney's 1995 animated film A Goofy Movie, where she served as the love interest to Max Goof.

By 1951, Goofy was portrayed as being married and having a son of his own. Neither the wife nor the son was portrayed as dog-like. The wife's face was never seen, but her form was human. The son lacked Goofy's dog-like ears.
