Jane, an American from Baltimore, Maryland, is the daughter of professor Archimedes Q. Porter. She becomes the love interest and later the wife of Tarzan, and subsequently the mother of their son Korak.
When Jane returns to the United States, Tarzan leaves the jungle in search of her, his one true love. In The Return of Tarzan, Tarzan and Jane marry. In later books, he lives with her for a time in England. They have one son, Jack, who takes the ape name Korak (the Killer).
Despite Kerchak's orders not to interact with the humans, Tarzan went back to the human camp, where he learned more about humans. In the midst of this, he and Jane started to fall in love.
Her own child having been previously killed by the same leopard, Kala adopts Tarzan as her own, though Kerchak disapproves of this. Kala is portrayed as the aunt of Terk, later Tarzan's best friend. Kala does not die in the movie. The character was voiced by actress Glenn Close.

[Tarzan, 1999] Unknowingly, on his journey to the coastal jungles of Africa, William Clayton would meet his cousin. John Clayton III was Tarzan's real name and he's related to the movie's main antagonist.
