Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir (John Rhys-Davies) is an Egyptian excavator and a friend of Indiana. He reappeared in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He also appeared in a Marvel comic, a Young Indiana Jones book (which detailed his first meeting with Indiana in 1913), and two Bantam novels.
David Terence Richards (2 November 1932 – 14 June 2014) was a British actor and stuntman, best known for his appearance as the Arabian swordsman in the 1981 Indiana Jones film Raiders of the Lost Ark.
During the conflict, Jones helped Sallah and his family emigrate to the US where Sallah settled into a job as a New York City cab driver and eventually became a grandparent.

Fayah was the wife of Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir and mother of their nine children, including Moshti and Jasmine, who resided with Sallah at their home in Cairo, Egypt. Much like her husband, she was a large, loud and extremely friendly person.
The Welsh actor played, in a bit of casting you wouldn't get nowadays, fez-festooned Sallah. And, after reportedly turning down a cameo in the fourth film because it wasn't substantial enough, Sallah is back for Indiana Jones's final adventure, The Dial of Destiny.
