Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Björgvin Arnarson), and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind) are not Chucky's first young victims. That honor belongs to Chucky's greatest nemesis, Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), whose mom bought him the Good Guy doll Chucky was inhabiting in the 1988 film.
However, Jake is not the first person to have encountered Chucky, and the series premiere alludes to Chucky's first "owner," Andy Barclay. Andy first appeared in the first 1988 Child's Play and went on to face off with Chucky in several sequels.
The original Chucky Doll is now located at East Martello Museum, which you can find in Key West, Florida. It was said that Chucky the doll was inspired by a true-to-life doll, Robert the doll, which was a gift for Robert Eugene Otto in 1906 from an angry family servant who was involved in voodoo practice.
Universal in affiliation with Don Mancini, the creator of Chucky, owns the rights to Chucky from II onward. MGM only owns the first. Charles Lee Ray was a character known as the Lakeshore Strangler who murdered 22 people before his death in the beginning of Child's Play. He is Chucky's original human form before he transferred his soul into a doll.
Standing at 2'4", Chucky may not have seemed like a particularly frightening antagonist, but his small stature allowed him to conceal himself and stalk his prey. Being considered "cute" also ensured that he would be underestimated.
One of the Chuckys tells Tiffany to kill her but Tiffany having developed feelings for Nica decapitates the doll and knocks Nica out with a sedative. When Nica awakens she is horrified to discover that Tiffany (to protect herself from Chucky) has amputated her arms and legs.
The character plays on the classic fear of creepy, humanoid dolls that enter the uncanny valley. What makes him so scary is his ability to blend into many environments seamlessly, the fact that most people wouldn't believe that a doll could be alive, and his persistence.
