Powers. There is an amulet in the Child's Play universe, known as the Heart of Damballa, that is capable of transferring living souls into different vessels. Damballa manifests himself as dark storm clouds, accompanied by powerful bolts of lightning.
Eventually, they found their way to Chicago. During that time, Chucky picked up an interest in Voodoo and met a practitioner named John Bishop who taught him more about it. However, Chucky perverted everything he was taught and his bloodlust couldn't be contained.
