Azog was an Orc-chieftain of Moria, who started the War of the Dwarves and Orcs when he slew Thrór. He was himself slain by Dáin II Ironfoot in the Battle of Azanulbizar, and was succeeded by his son Bolg.
In 3019 an army of Easterlings attacked the Lonely Mountain and Dale. Dain died at a great age during that attack, part of the War of the Ring, still fighting as a mighty ax-wielder despite his great age. He perished standing over the body of his friend King Brand (grandson of Bard) before the Gate of Erebor.
After nine years of war, before the gates of Moria itself, the climactic Battle of Azanulbizar was fought and Azog emerged from the gate of Moria. In that battle, Azog slew Náin on the stairs, but was beheaded by Dáin II, son of Náin when he attempted to retreat.
They all united against the common enemy, and so was fought the Battle of Five Armies in the valley of Dale. Thorin was killed in the battle, as were his sister-sons Kíli and Fíli. As his "rightful heir," Dáin succeeded Thorin as King under the Mountain, and King of all of Durin's folk.

Was Dain a good king?
Dáin was a wise and just leader, and brought much wealth to the mountain realm and was on good terms with the Men of Dale to the south and the Elven king of Northern Mirkwood as well, which ensured peace for many years to come.
Their deaths and Thorin's did not end Durin's line, although did end the branch which had Thror, Thrain, and Thorin Oakenshield. Thorin's cousin, Dain Ironfoot, became King after Thorin's death. Dain's son, Thorin Stonehelm, became King after Dain died in the Battle of Dale. The line continued on after that.
Kili and Fili are the sons of Dis, who is the daughter of Thrain II and the sister of Thorin Oakenshield. Fili and Kili are therefore the nephews of Thorin Oakenshield, the rightful "King under the Mountain." Their grandfather is Thror and their great-grandfather is Dain I.
In TA 2799 after the Battle of Azanulbizar, Thráin II wished to re-enter Moria, but was stopped by Dáin Ironfoot, who alone had reached the threshold and saw the waiting Balrog. In January of TA 3019, the Fellowship of the Ring traveled through Moria on their way to Mordor.

The Pale Orc and his armies fought the stalwart dwarves in a deathly battle where he managed to kill Thror himself. This act drove his son, Thrain, mad, but drove his grandson, Thorin enraged. Despite Azog's advantage, he learned the painful lesson to not mess with dwarves after the dwarf prince cut his left hand off.
Bolg is the spawn of Azog. They have similar physical feats and are ruffle the same height so it's hard to tell but I'm gonna say Azog wins this just because he seems more mighty and is the most infamous Orc and probably the most powerful because he is there leader.
The townsmen's arrows and spears proved useless against the dragon's armoured body. The thrush told Bard the Bowman of Smaug's one weak spot, a bare patch on the dragon's belly. With his last arrow, Bard killed Smaug by shooting into this place.
After the fall of Sauron, Thranduil fixed the southern boundary of his realm as the Mountains of Mirkwood, and his realm flourished well into the Fourth Age. He may have stayed on as the king of the Great Forest or left Middle-earth and departed to the Undying Lands.
Defeated by the Host of Valinor in the War of Wrath, Morgoth was banished from Middle-earth into the Timeless Void, though it was prophesied that he would one day return.
Dáin was the name of a Dwarf in the Old Norse poem Voluspa. Dain was called Dain II because there was an earlier King of Durin's Folk named Dain I. He was possibly called Ironfoot because he came from the Iron Hills and Dwarves there wore Iron shoes.
The only recorded instances of Balrogs having been slain are Gandalf's slay of Durin's Bane, Echtelion's slay of Gothmog and Glorfindel's slay of an unnamed Balrog.
TL;DR: Thorin is half-elf, and Fili and Kili are themselves both part elf and half-human. The two young dwarves represent the union of Elves, Men, and Dwarves that once existed before Dale fell, and which will rise again.
Thorin became the dwarf king at a very young age after the battle. However, Thorin never married nor had any children. The young dwarf king led his people out of Dunland and they finally re-established their home in the Blue Mountains. His younger sister, Dis, later gave birth to two children, Fíli and Kíli.
After the death of Thorin in the Battle of Five Armies, Dain becomes King under the Mountain. He redeems the Arkenstone from Bard with a fourteenth of the treasure, which is used to re-establish Dale. Over the next three years, Bard rebuilds the city of Dale and becomes its ruler. The city begins to prosper again.
Gimli was born in the Ered Luin in the Third Age, son of Glóin. Gimli had wanted to accompany his father on the quest to reclaim Erebor, but at age 62 he was deemed too young. He was a remote descendant of Durin the Deathless, chief of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves and ancestor of the Longbeards.
Thorin I (Third Age 2035 – 2289, died aged 254) was the King of Durin's Folk for 99 years, succeeding his father, Thráin I, on his death in T.A. 2190. Thorin was the heir of Durin the Deathless being the great-grandson of Durin VI.
Gimli is the son of Glóin who is introduced in The Hobbit as a member of Thorin Oakenshield's company, also being one of his four third cousins. Thorin himself is a direct descendant of Durin I, even becoming the King of Durin's Folk in his lifetime.
