Scream 3 reveals shocking secrets about Sidney's family, including that the real mastermind behind her mother's murder was her half-brother, Roman Bridger. Roman orchestrated the roles of Billy, Stu, and Cotton in Maureen's murder, using footage of Maureen's affairs to manipulate Billy into killing her.
In Scream 3, the current Ghostface uses Maureen's synthesized voice and image to taunt Sidney and lure her out of hiding. The killer is unveiled as Roman Bridger, who reveals that he is Maureen's son and Sidney's half-brother.
Scream 3 is the only film in the franchise where only one identity is revealed as Ghostface: Roman Bridger played by Scott Foley. Roman is the main antagonist of the third installment and the fifth Ghostface murderer unmasked overall.
However, during their junior year, he uncovered that Maureen Prescott, his girlfriend's mother was sleeping with his father. This caused his mother to abandon him, and spiral Billy into evil.
It's revealed that Sidney's (Neve Campbell) husband and the father of her children is Mark, and that would be Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) from Scream 3.

What did Billy do to Sidney's mom?
In the third act of Scream, when Billy Loomis and Stu Macher revealed themselves as the Ghostface killers, Billy told Sidney he killed Maureen as she was having an affair with his dad, which led to his mother abandoning him.
Campbell admitted to being unaware that the husband named Mark was actually Dempsey's character. The fifth film reveals Sidney became a mother of three children between the events of the fourth and fifth films, set ten years apart.
Not that Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) was very pleased to find out that the guy she'd lost her virginity to - Billy - mere minutes prior was a serial killer. However, unbeknownst to Scream devotees, it wasn't just Sidney who shared a bed with Billy around the time of the first Scream.

Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) is Sidney's cousin who has grown up in Woodsboro in her relative's shadow. At first, she's sweet, innocent, and tough and seems to be a new final girl in Scream 4. However, near the end of the movie, she is revealed as one of the killers.
Sidney was stabbed once in Scream 1996, left unscathed in Scream 2, shot three times in a bulletproof vest in Scream 3, stabbed twice in Scream 4, and stabbed once at the end of Scream 2022. Sidney has survived four stabbings so far, suggesting she has another five left before she succumbs to Dewey's same fate.
In Scream 2, Billy's mother became Ghostface as she sought revenge on Sidney for killing Billy. Later on, Scream (2022) revealed that Billy apparently cheated on Sidney shortly before the original kill spree and unknowingly had a daughter, Sam Carpenter.
In Scream 3, Roman seeks revenge for what he sees as his mother's rejection and abandonment by engineering Maureen's death and trying to kill Sidney, seeing her as having the family-life he was denied.
Billy Loomis is the ex boyfriend of Sidney Prescott and one of the first Ghostfaces. While the both of them were dating, he cheated on Sidney with a girl named Christina Carpenter who later on went on to have Billy's daughter, Samantha Carpenter.
25 years after his death, it is revealed that Billy had an affair with Christina Carpenter, and she gave birth to his illegitimate daughter, Samantha, who later faces a similar killing spree to the one Billy orchestrated. Billy is portrayed by Skeet Ulrich in Scream (1996).
Stu helps Billy in the killings apparently for no real reason, except for "peer pressure" (though another possible motive for Stu may be that one of their first victims, Casey Becker, was Stu's ex-girlfriend who may have dumped him for her next boyfriend, Steve Orth, so murdering them may very well have been Stu's idea ...
Campbell hasn't ultimately said goodbye to Sidney and the Scream movies, so if the studio agrees to pay her fairly, it's likely she would return as a character for Scream 7. New characters might be at the center of the current Scream story, but Campbell will always be the face of the franchise.
In the deleted scenes, Dewey (David Arquette) explains to Gale (Courteney Cox) that Neil Prescott (Lawrence Hecht) (Sidney's father) has passed away since appearing in Scream 3 (2000) and this is the first time Sidney (Neve Campbell) has returned to Woodsboro since his death.
