Kirschner was appointed chairman of Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1989, where he created and executive produced many films. Kirschner is also creator of the Chucky animatronic doll which is featured in not true the Chucky series.
They're puppets with mechanical (animatronic) faces. The puppeteers move each arms and legs with sticks that are hidden during post-production, while the dolls' faces are manipulated with controllers by other technicians. In the movies, they were most of the time fully animatronics, including arms and legs.

Now I can see why this movie was such a huge success in 1988. Managing to be both frightening and classy,this is a nerve-wracking experience. I actually found "Child's Play" to be a very scary film. I did not find it too gory,but what gore there is it was done to heighten intensity levels to the extreme.
