The director wants the viewer to see the story from a particular point of view. Like a stage director, a movie director tells the actors how to play a particular scene, sets the scene for a specific type of mood, and moves the actors around for a particular effect.
You practice what you are going to do; it is called rehearsing. Maybe you, or the director, or the other actors you are working with, have come up with ideas on what to do. So you do them. You do them as often as possible, so you will do them right on stage or in front of the camera.

It's common for actors to get aroused while filming sex scenes, and it can put an entire production on hold.
