Caledon Nathan Hockley (often shortened to Cal, 1882-1929, age 47) is Rose's fiance and the main antagonist of Titanic. He was supposed to have married Rose DeWitt Bukater when they arrived in Philadelphia, yet her hatred for him and her romance with Jack Dawson kept them apart.
Cal often abused Rose and demanded much from her. They had several differences. One of them was their taste in art, Cal constantly complained about Rose's fascination in art done by that of Picasso or Monet.
Caledon "Cal" Hockley has always gotten a bad rap. Ostensibly the villain of Titanic—presented in an even worse light than even the iceberg and whatever genius decided to stock the unsinkable ship with, like, six lifeboats—Hockley is often called evil, misogynistic, and downright sociopathic.

Lovejoy is so far the only villain in the film to die during the sinking of the Titanic while Cal and Ruth have survived it, though Cal would later kill himself following the 1929 Wall Street Crash, while Ruth's fate is left undisclosed, but it is obvious that she has already died by 1996.
Although Rose changed her name to “Dawson” to honor Jack, used this name during her acting career, and ultimately revealed she never got over Jack, she moved on and got married at some point in her life.
