That villain is, of course, Kang the Conqueror, who's set to be the Avengers' next opponent in the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. And while Thanos is certainly a hard act to follow, Kang may be a far greater threat than the Mad Titan ever was.
However, Kang eventually decided to chance a meeting with Thanos, despite his policy, near the end of The Infinity Siblings storyline, though it was still a choice founded by his fear of the Mad Titan.

Kang's noble tendencies, even though he was a merciless killer, have consistently forced him into a losing position. His first loss in Quantumania came from the dynasty when he was exiled to the Quantum Realm. He was too open with his actions and beliefs because the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few.

The fact that Thor has been able to hold his own against previous villains such as an Infinity Stone-equipped Malekith, Hela, the Goddess of Death, and the Mad Titan, Thanos, perhaps suggests that Thor would be an even match for Kang the Conqueror.
Kang the Conqueror's worst enemy has always been himself, and since there are infinite variants of himself ready to attack each other, he can be seen in battle against himself fairly regularly. Out of all his variants, however, Immortus is probably the most hostile towards Kang the Conqueror.
In Marvel Comics, the most dangerous version of Kang is none other than Immortus. Introduced in Avengers #10, Immortus represents a later point in Kang's timeline. After years of orchestrating all sorts of time travel shenanigans, the 31st-century time traveler rebranded himself as Immortus.
Hulk goes up against Thanos in a fight but is defeated by the Mad Titan. Though it ultimately wasn't surprising that Thanos would beat Hulk, it was shocking to see the easy fashion that he did it in. It could even be assumed that Thanos used the Power Stone that he had.

The Kang of this movie says he saw the different versions of himself "playing with time like children," but also "saw how it ends." To stop "chaos spreading across realities," he "took control." This involved killing and enslaving whole civilizations, apparently.

In the comic book, M.O.D.O.K. was created after an experiment went terribly wrong while trying to increase his intelligence. His brain grew to the point where it stunted his body, giving him his silly strange look.
Jonathan Majors appeared as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, leading many to wonder whether he's the same variant as He Who Remains from Loki.
