As he is killed in Rocky IV partially because of Rocky's inability to throw in the corner towel before Drago lands the killing punch against Apollo, the boxer feels responsible for his death, which haunts him throughout the rest of the series.
He seems to be a very pitiless and cold-hearted person as shown when he comments on Apollo Creed's death: "If he dies, he dies", indicating that Ivan feels no remorse (deep regret or guilt for a wrong committed) for his actions.
