Atreus was grandson of Tantalus and son of Pelops and Hippodamia. In accordance with a curse placed on Pelops's line by Myrtilus, Atreus and his brother Thyestes grew jealous of their half-brother Chrysippus and killed him by throwing him down a well, for which they were exiled by their father.
Unbeknownst of his true heritage, Atreus spent most of his childhood as a sickly child and was taken care of by his mother while his father was absent for long periods of time to hunt food. In reality, Kratos was gone so he could learn to control his rage. As Atreus grew older, he slowly grew healthy enough to walk.
Why does Kratos not want Atreus to know he's a god?
For the majority of the game, Kratos is haunted by his past. He's afraid to tell his son what he did to his own family before coming to the Norse universe, and as such, this also prevents him from telling Atreus that he's really Loki - and a half-god.
For once in his life he now has the power to think differently, and better yet, he has people to protect. This prolonged stubbornness also causes Atreus to hide away his intentions, worried his father will act out or punish him for taking the initiative.
Still, they have their own set of setbacks along the way, most of them because Kratos tried to hide Atreus' divine ancestry as well as he could. In the end, Atreus learns the truth about himself. He is part god, part giant, and has another name, Loki.
Baldur, initially known as "the Stranger", is the main antagonist of the 2018 video game God of War. He is the Norse god of light, the son of Odin and Freya, and the half-brother of Thor, Heimdall and Týr.
Atreus and Loki have always been one in the same character in God of War, but the name has far less significance to both Kratos and Atreus than it does to the audience. Loki, as it was revealed, was the name that Kratos' wife, Faye, wanted to give Atreus when he was born.
Atreus. As Kratos' son, Atreus inherited the power of Spartan Rage from him. However, during his early life, he would fall ill whenever he became too angry, signified by physical weakness and a hacking cough.
Anybody asks a question and they never give him an answer. But we wanted to be a lot more grey,” Williams explains. “We really took the idea that it takes a village because Kratos can't answer a lot of the questions that are being asked of him...
But despite all of this, Kratos has found that he loves his son. As you progress through God of War's story, you see the relationship between father and son develop. In the beginning, Atreus and Kratos are both inexperienced: Atreus in adventuring and Kratos in parenting.
However, Atreus also had two sons, Agamemnon and Menelaus, the two brothers who figure so centrally in The Iliad and The Odyssey. As you know, Agamemnon married Clytemnestra, and Menelaus married her half sister, Helen (known later as Helen of Troy).
Pelops then entered Pisa, became its king and named the land "Peloponnesus", meaning "island of Pelops". He fathered several sons, including Thyestes, the father of Aegisthus, and Atreus, the father of Menelaus and Agamemnon.
Kratos may be a God, but even he cannot survive a Hakai burst. Beerus is strong enough to destroy half a planet with his finger, so a full-on punch should be able to take Kratos down. If Kratos tries to use any of his godly weapons or shield, Beerus can instantly destroy them with a Ki blast.
They mention the reason in one of the "boat conversations." Simply put, Kratos feels weaker because he is weaker. His domain is gone, destroyed along when he completed his revenge against Zeus, which means no tribute or worshippers. His godly power is dwindling, and may one day be gone completely.
Superhuman Stamina: As a god, Baldur has near-limitless stamina, showing no signs of fatigue during his fight with Kratos or his tracking. Immortality: As an Aesir god, Baldur was immortal, and could only be killed by other Immortals or special weapons.
Part of this development stems back to the end of “God of War” when Kratos and Atreus spread Faye's ashes and uncover yet another hidden lineage. Faye was a giant, which makes Atreus half giant and half god.
Once everyone and everything is accounted for, Atreus leaves for his own solo journey to save the giants as Kratos emotionally accepts that his son needs to forge his own path. Then, Kratos is assigned cleanup duty of the Nine Realms alongside Freya, in the form of missed side-quests and fetch-or-kill missions.
In the God Of War official novel, it is confirmed that Atreus is 11 years old in the game. Fimbulwinter lasts three years, so by the time Ragnarök takes place, which is when the game will be set, Atreus will be 14 years old.
Many years after the events of God of War III, Kratos, having survived his apparent death from releasing the power of Hope in Greece, ends up in ancient Scandinavia in the Norse realm of Midgard and fathers a young son named Atreus, who is unaware of his true nature.
In the game, Atreus' connection to Loki is slowly revealed through clues and hints, culminating in the revelation that Atreus was given the name Loki at birth. It was revealed that Atreus' mother was a giantess named Laufey, who had an affair with Odin, the Allfather of the Norse gods.
