Hurt by Anna's harsh words, Elsa lashes out–and accidentally shoots ice from her uncovered hand, revealing her powers to everyone in the room. Elsa flees the kingdom, leaving a trail of ice that sets off an eternal winter in her wake.
The symbolic explanation for why Elsa froze is more straightforward. Elsa freezes in response to the trauma of discovering her family's colonial past. Similar to the plot in Frozen, Elsa is overcome with emotion and loses control of her powers — she is so overwhelmed by her own ice magic that she is literally frozen.
Elsa explains that she and Anna now serve as the bridge between the people and the magical spirits, where the bridge has two ends: Anna on the people's side and Elsa on the magical spirits' side. Elsa abdicates the throne of Arendelle to Anna and becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest.
Elsa's decision to abdicate from the throne and allow Anna to become Queen is one that has been hinted at since the first movie. It was Anna who wanted to open the gates and have a free, inclusive, and normal Arendelle where Elsa's repression led to her wanting to close herself and her kingdom from the world.

Further, if Anna were allowed out of the castle, it would probably arouse even more suspicion in Arendelle than if she was kept away. With one sister free to explore, and the other never leaving, it would make it abundantly clear that something was being hidden from the kingdom.

Three years later, Elsa is 21 years old and set to be crowned queen. The people of Arendelle are joyously preparing for her coronation day. Anna (now 18) is flushed with excitement as the castle gates are opened for the first time since the sisters' childhood.

This changes in the fourth verse to “there's a MOTHER full of memory”. The river, which has already been proven to be the fifth spirit is the mother of Elsa, Queen Iduna.
Elsa from Frozen was originally intended to be an evil queen with an army of snow monsters. That's according to the animated film's producer Peter Del Vecho, who says they completely re-wrote the ending. "When we started off, Anna and Elsa were not sisters," he told EW. "They weren't even royal.

There hasn't been any indication that Elsa will have a girlfriend in Frozen III. That said, some fans have theorized that Honeymaren, a member of the Northuldra tribe, will be Elsa's girlfriend in the next Frozen film. Honeymaren was introduced in Frozen II as a resident of the Enchanted Forest.
Moana 2 does not have an official release date, but it will likely be announced in the future. As of early October 2023, Disney has not officially announced the development of Moana 2.
