Discovering his mother is still alive, he tracks her down only to be betrayed by the Joker who viciously murders him with a crowbar. It's possible that Batman could have stopped Jason from going down this path if their relationship hadn't been damaged.
Believing that his father-figure Bruce didn't value him as much as his predecessor, Dick, Jason rejected Bruce's attempts at forcing him to step down as Robin. Desperate to prove himself, Jason decided to rely on a form of Jonathan Crane's anti-fear gas, causing him to go rogue in an attempt to take down the Joker.
Believing Batman's methods for delivering justice were too soft and ineffective, Jason decided to take up the mantle of the Red Hood so he could punish evildoers with his own brutal sense of justice. For one, Jason actually does have a fairly tragic origin story, and he can thus be seen as a sort of force of vengeful nature. With Michael, however, his killing spree happened simply because he was so vile, especially if concepts such as the Curse of Thorn are ignored.
Jason is notably furious when the deception is revealed. Pamela (played by Nana Visitor) has a minor presence in the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot. The opening scene shows her chasing a young girl, presumably Alice, at the end of her Camp Crystal Lake killing spree, who ultimately decapitates Pamela with her own machete.
He knew Jason was killing people, and Batman couldn't live with the shame of knowing that he had unintentionally created a deadlier version of Joe Chill. This explains the tragedy of what kept Batman away but also highlights his own selfishness and irresponsibility.

Tim Drake excels as an investigator, evident from even his first appearance. Unlike most Robins, Tim sought Batman out. Using nothing but his wits and intellect, Tim deduced Batman's identity, a feat few in the DC Universe have been able to accomplish.
That title would probably go to Dick Grayson, seeing as he remains the cream of the crop Robin. He'd be on his feet for about 4 minutes longer than his closest runner-up: Tim Drake, who'd be in it for 16 minutes at best until his mentor takes him down. Not long after that, Dick would lose as well.
What if Jason Todd had never died? Batman wouldn't have become as dark and depressed after and Tim probably wouldn't have tried to become Robin immediately, although he probably would have figured out Bruce's identity. Jason, however, did have an anger problem which possibly led to the death of Felipe Garzonas.
Batman considers this his greatest failure: not properly training Jason in his role as Robin, and failing to protect him from the Joker. In the years to come, he would erect a memorial in the Batcave made from Jason's uniform.
In reality though, the Joker has him locked up in an abandoned wing of Arkham Asylum and proceeds to further torture him for about a year - warping his mind and making him believe that Batman just simply didn't care about him, abandoned him, and quickly replaced him with Tim Drake (Todd doesn't know that Batman thinks ...
Pamela may not have consistently beaten her son, but the mental abuse she inflicted on Jason was evident through his actions and reactions in the franchise. Even sadder was that he had no idea he had an unhealthy childhood because he never met anyone that wanted to help him or be his friend.
Tommy is considered to be the archenemy of Jason Voorhees. Tommy was originally going to appear in Freddy vs. Jason, but got cut off after the script got too long. Due to appearing in 3 films, more than any other Friday the 13th protagonist, Tommy is considered as the most prominent protagonist in the franchise.
His mother thought he drowned in Crystal Lake at age 11. Jason survived and became a hermit, living in the woods and feeding off plants, bugs and animals. (Some claim he did drown but came back to life to avenge his mother's death). He grew to be a large, deformed and uneducated man who never said a word.
