Whether it's because of updates on Cameron's massive follow-up series, or tragic attempts to visit the original ship's wreckage, Cameron and his film have been pop culture staples since 1997. And now that Titanic is back on Netflix, it's the perfect time to revisit one of the best and biggest movies ever made.
But there are different ways to pursue that obsession, and for those of us uninterested in traveling to the bottom of the ocean to see the wreck, there's an alternative: the 1997 Oscar-winning epic Titanic, streaming once again on Netflix starting July 1. (It's also still available to stream on Prime Video).
Cameron calls this rerelease “a celebration of love" meant to remember the film's accomplishments and success. One thing worth noting is that, as Cameron mentions, the only thing that's been added to Titanic's 2023 rerelease is the Dolby Atmos sound.
It's possible that the temporary removal was due to licensing agreements expiring or being renegotiated, and Netflix later secured the rights to stream the movie again. Whether or not it was inappropriate for Netflix to bring back "Titanic" depends on individual perspectives and preferences.
