In order to get to Malfoy Manor, Voldemort had to fly most of the way. He had to fly over a "dark and stormy sea" to get within range of the manor. As such, even an extremely powerful wizard like Voldemort couldn't Apparate much further than the length of England.
Why did Voldemort not apparate to Godric's Hollow?
He apparated in Godric's Hollow, but when he was abroad he didn't want to use apparition, because apparition between countries or continents was very dangerous and often resulted in death (although Voldemort had horcruxes, so he wouldn't die, but he would probably lose his body again).

If they disapparate, it could possibly damage Harry because he is a baby. Though James and Lilly are talented indeed, they did not master wandless magic and unfortunately they did not have their wands with them the night of the attack which means that they weren't able to preform magic which includes apperation.
