Origins: Originally owned by the great spirit Anum that watched over earth's birth, the indestructible Right Hand of Doom was grafted onto Hellboy when he was just a child by his father Azzael.
After impregnating a woman, Azzael took her to Hell where she died giving birth to the Hellboy. Azzael removes the child's arm and grafts the Hand of Anum onto him, then releases him into the world.
After sealing the Ogdru Jahad away, Anum was destroyed by his fellow spirits. Only his right hand remained intact as it was kept and preserved by the Hyperboreans, the first race of man. The Right Hand of Doom eventually ended up in the possession of Azzael before he grafted it onto the newborn Hellboy.
Though now it has become Hellboy's substitute right arm (due to Azzael hacking off his original right hand as a baby and grafting the Hand in its place), the hand is effectively invulnerable and feels no pain, and is much like a sledgehammer when used to punch an enemy.
Having immense hatred for his horns, representations of his devilish nature, Hellboy routinely files them down to stubs to prevent himself from giving in to his darker side. In the films, he does this to maintain a somewhat "normal" appearance among his colleagues at B.P.R.D.

He's not the “son" of King Arthur, he's a distant parent, and because of that, Hellboy is the rightful heir of Excalibur and worthy to be the King of Britain, Excalibur has the power of bringing back Arthur's undead army.
Weaknesses. Heavenly-forged weapons: Like traditional demons, Hellboy can be hurt or even killed by holy weapons, such as his rosary that burns his skin. Hellboy already looks like a demon, but under certain circumstances, he can transform into a far more monstrous creature. In this form, his stumps become fully grown horns and he can even sprout wings. The transformation also leaves him with some powers that he doesn't typically have.
David Harbour's character, Hellboy, is a specific type of demon known as a “cambion” — the offspring of a demon and a human. (Notably, Merlin was also a cambion.) Hellboy loves Pancakes. In Pandemonium, capital of Hell, the Demons wail. Three demon lords, Astaroth, Mammon and Haborym, comment that now that Hellboy has eaten pancakes, he will never come back to hell.
It's a magical artifact called the Right Hand of Doom. Hellboy's original arm was lopped off when he was a baby and the Right Hand of Doom grafted on in its place. The arm's original owner was Anum, one of the greater spirits, who created the Ogdru Jahad dragons.
His rapid physical maturation is in contrast to his physical rate of aging, which seems to be much slower than normal. Throughout the sixty-year span of his life, Hellboy seems to have ceased to age ever since reaching physical maturity.
Remembering his true self and what Bruttenholm brought him up to be, Hellboy breaks off his horns, reseals the Ogdru Jahad, and defeats Rasputin by stabbing him with one of his broken-off horns.
As Hellboy battles a reflection of himself, bearing sword and crown, which attacks him from a nearby mirror, Astaroth tells him that if he takes Excalibur (as he must to save the world from Nimue) the act will inevitably lead to him claiming his demon father's sword, and himself destroying the world.
