Tim Drake Has Never Felt At Home in the Batman Family This seemingly innocuous appearance planted the first seed in Tim's mind that things in Gotham were never quite what they appeared, especially when it came to the Dark Knight.
In the "Titans Tomorrow" storyline, Tim encountered his future self in the identity of Batman after his mentor died in a crisis. This future happened despite his repeated statement that he did not want to be the next Batman, and is rather content being Robin.
Every single Robin possesses an aspect of Batman's personality that exceed Batman himself. Dick has Batman's leadership abilities and his ability to inspire people on a grand scale.
Once Dick takes over the role of Batman after Bruce's apparent death in Batman R.I.P. and Final Crisis, he fires Tim from the Robin mantle and gives it to Damian Wayne, due to Dick believing he and Tim are equals.

Tim Drake often surpasses him. Every Robin seems to have their "thing." Dick Grayson was the first, with arguably the best personality. Jason Todd was the best at martial arts, even being a better combatant than Batman himself.
