In year four Draco tried to jinx Harry from behind, and Professor Moody turned him into a ferret for his trouble. It was brilliant because Draco, with his pointed face, was just so… ferrety. If he were an animal, a ferret is definitely what he'd be.
During the 1994–1995 school year, Barty Crouch Jnr (disguised as Alastor Moody) transformed student Draco Malfoy into a white ferret and bounced him up and down, as punishment for attempting to attack fellow student Harry Potter from behind, earning Draco the nickname of "The Amazing Bouncing Ferret".
History. Barty Crouch Jnr (disguised as Mad-Eye Moody) used this spell on Draco Malfoy in the 1994 when he tried to cast a dark charm at Harry Potter behind his back at the Marble Staircase, in front of many students, including Vincent Crabbe who tried to pick the ferret up, only to be scolded by Moody.
At this moment, Mad-Eye Moody enters the scene, swiftly turning Malfoy into a ferret and causing him to bounce in the hallway, as punishment for attacking when his opponent's back was turned. Professor McGonagall transforms Malfoy into his original form and warns Moody not to transfigure students.
His hatred of these sorts of Death Eaters probably stems from being locked in Azkaban for years for his service to Voldemort while others, like Lucius, walked free.

Why did Malfoy bully Harry?
Draco Malfoy's gang often bullied Harry Potter near upcoming Quidditch games in an attempt to make him nervous. As the years went by, however, Harry became used to the teasing and often made amusing comebacks.
A lower-level Death Eater managed to overpower the real Moody and keep him imprisoned for an entire school year. Though Moody was a leader of the Order of the Phoenix, he was injured by Dolohov in a duel and eventually taken out by Voldemort himself.
His fears were assuaged in 1944, when he received a Hogwarts letter and began attending the school, where he was sorted into Hufflepuff, but he never forgot about his sister. He attended Hogwarts around the same time as future mediwitch Poppy Pomfrey.
