A few really sad things go down in Frozen 2.Frozen handles the deaths of Anna and Elsa's parents, Queen Iduna and King Agnarr, pretty gracefully (it helps that their shipwreck is during "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"). In Frozen 2, however, we learn more details about their deaths, and it's pretty sad.
Watching the pain on the faces of Anna and Elsa as they relived their parents death — that was heartbreaking. To learn that they were going off to help Elsa understand her powers, and instead met their fate… well, it was emotional.
Sadly, “Frozen 2” did not live up to expectations. It disappointed not only me, but plenty of other fans. “Frozen 2” takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, including Olaf's amazing singing skills, the plot was nothing compared to the original. Small incidents were made into huge deals, which was unnecessary.
The film covers deep and heavy topics unknown to Disney princess films. The first Frozen broke the Disney formula by sharing “true love” doesn't need to be romantic. The second film addresses loss, grief, depression, and how to find hope and personal growth through life's uncertainties.
While many viewers knew that she'd surely be alright since this is a Disney film and love cured a frozen heart before, the confirmation of Elsa's death via Olaf's disappearance made it that much darker in the second film.

Is Frozen 2 dark?
In the process, though, the movie takes a very sharp turn and becomes one of Disney's darkest movies to date, with Elsa's journey a bit scarier than we first assumed. In seeking answers to her origin story, Elsa realizes her dad, King Agnarr, was saved by her mom, Queen Iduna.
Some parts may be difficult for younger or sensitive kids, although my kid was fine. For several minutes of the movie, two main characters are thought to be dead and we see the intense grief of a remaining character. If this upsets your kids but they still want to watch, you may tell them the ending will be happy.
There's an air of playfulness and adventure surrounding both of them, but that's abruptly cut short when Elsa accidentally hurts Anna with her power one night. The near-fatal injury is one that Anna appears to quickly get over -- but Elsa is never the same afterward.
What sets Elsa apart from the mass array of Disney princesses is her inner battle with mental illness, anxiety and depression. In Frozen II, Elsa is the only person who can hear a voice but everyone couldn't.
Frozen contains some scenes of action violence and peril, some accidental injury, implied death and occasional threats of violence. For example: As a young girl, Anna is accidentally hit in the head by a bolt of her sister's magic. This leaves her unconscious with a white streak in her hair where she was hit.
In an overall sense, Frozen 2 has a better storyline than its predecessor. It deals with some heavier themes, has different consequences, it's just stronger overall. Frozen 2 goes deeper, and digs into Elsa and Anna's background in some new ways.

There hasn't been any indication that Elsa will have a girlfriend in Frozen III. That said, some fans have theorized that Honeymaren, a member of the Northuldra tribe, will be Elsa's girlfriend in the next Frozen film. Honeymaren was introduced in Frozen II as a resident of the Enchanted Forest.

Depressed at having failed Anna and Elsa, Olaf wanders into the night, depressed, and figures it would be best to remain lost.
Well, Elsa has been designed to be way prettier than Anna, and she is more popular (the sales of her merchandising do not lie: she's the most popular princess among the children of this generation) this is a fact.
Although Elsa's disability is encoded as a magical ice power, the language the film uses to talk about her condition maps on to the experiences of people with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in recognizable ways.
Both characters have two daughters (Agnarr is the father to Elsa and Anna, while Big Bob is the father to Olga and Helga). In Frozen II, Agnarr is voiced by Alfred Molina, while Iduna is voiced by Evan Rachel Wood. The two had previously voiced the Fairy King and his daughter, Marianne, respectively, in Strange Magic.
Elysium is the first daughter of Elsa and Jack Frost, protagonists in Frozen and Rise of the Guardians. She is also a Princess of Arendelle and Junior Guardian of Winter. She is the older sister to Elise and is the first heir to the Throne of Arendelle.
In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, Frozen 2 has some scenes that could scare or disturb children under five years. For example: There are creepy eyes and shadows on the wall of a cave that Olaf passes through. The images might frighten some young viewers.
Since there is no predetermined psychological association with the word “frozen” to link the child's mind to the boy category or the girl category, children will predetermine, based on the title, that the movie is for both genders.
The studio reports Frozen 2 is now the highest grossing animated release globally of all time with estimated earnings at $1.325 billion, beating records set by its predecessor Frozen ($1.281 billion) and Incredibles 2 ($1.243 billion).
