Newt was named after Isaac Newton. He was described as having an "odd accent," and Dashner recounted that he thought of him as being either English or Scottish. He was portrayed by Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

Who was the Greenie before Thomas?
Chuck. An awkward, chubby Glader around age 12 or 13. Chuck serves as the “Greenie” before Thomas arrives. Chuck is Thomas's first real friend in the Glade, though he becomes more like a younger brother to the older boy.
The emotional intensity is definitely doubled up in the movie, establishing Teresa as a Thomas' one true love interest. Unlike Dashner's original story, the possibility of him dating Brenda is eliminated, and the audiences also get enough time to process the death of a character introduced right from the first movie.

By the time The Death Cure ends, it seems the majority of humanity has descended into the chaotic world seen outside the city walls throughout the entire film franchise. Meanwhile, the Right Arm, Thomas, and the remainder of his friends attempt to build a new society on an island away from the rest of the world.
