Beast, the new Universal movie starring Idris Elba, tells the story of a killer lion — a CGI adaptation of the now-extinct barbary lion — who wreaks havoc on an entire village, seeking revenge after poachers decimate his pride.

The always-appealing Copley has the best line in the movie, one in which he recognizes Monsieur Lion's pain even as he acknowledges that the animal's highly anthropomorphized anger makes him too great a threat to human life. The lion in Beast is not real, and his feelings and behavior are made-up human constructs.

Though Beast was likely inspired by the story of the Tsavo Man-Eaters, it is not based on the real-life events. There are many differences between the stories, such as Beast's village setting rather than a construction site and the focus on Idris Elba's character and family.
The medical doctor knew that the other two lions would eventually see the other big cat as a major threat to their pride. Wanting nothing more than to protect their pride, the lions face off against one another in a deathly match, shifting the rogue lion's focus away from Nate once and for all.
What Happened to the Lion in Beast? After the sacrifice, Nate drove away with his girls, ending up at the poachers' base where he needed to apply his medical expertise and patch up a wounded Meredith. But Beast threw another twist their way, revealing the singed, scarred lion survived the blast.
All the lions in the film are CG, crafted by Framestore, under visual effects supervisor Enrik Pavdeja. In addition to various build challenges on the digital lions, Framestore also had to deal with extensive lion/human interaction–at one point Copley's character hugs a pride of lions, and later Elba fights 'Beast'.
Nate then fights the lion one-on-one, hitting it and stabbing it while the lion tries taking bites out of him. As he is close to being mortally wounded, the other lions from the pride go after the villain lion and overpower it before tearing it to shreds.
There are reports that the masked villain is Shine Tom Chacko who is a notable hero in Malayalam cinema while the facial resemblance is pointing more towards Ankur Vikal.
“Beast” opens with the aforementioned poachers gunning down a pride of lions, followed by a brief glimpse of Rory exacting the first of many attacks. As the film progresses, we'll see his handiwork in more graphic detail, first on the body of a injured man who stops Martin's Jeep seeking help.
The film was shot on location in South Africa, but no actual lions were used during filming. The production had a lion on set in reference photos. "My son shot that," Kormákur laughs. "I put him in a cage next to a real lion." The titular beast in the film was created in post by Oscar-winning effects studio Framestore.

The movie was filmed in South Africa. Locations included Limpopo and Cape Town. The final showdown scene was filmed in the Northern Cape, on the border with Namibia. The film's directors and producers opted to shoot in the bush to capture the realism of the lion's territory.
