After all, Barbie dolls are made for children! Surely a film starring one of the most recognizable toys in the world would be suitable for that audience, right? Well, maybe not. 2023's Barbie received a PG-13 rating — a far cry from the animated Barbie movies throughout the years that have been rated G or TV-Y.
As with any movie, whether or not “Barbie” is OK for your kids depends entirely on your own family's rules, values and expectations. On Common Sense Media, some users have left reviews stating the movie is appropriate for kids as young as 6, while others say they wouldn't approve it for kids younger than 16.

Playing with dolls is completely innocent. There is no harm in it at all. If you have younger sisters I am sure they love it if it's still a shared interest.
However, the BEST age to give Barbies would probably be to a kid between 3–8. For three year olds, it might just be a babydoll, but as they get older they could get some Barbies! This is typically the prime age to play with them, and their friends will most likely have em too!
It's not explicit or vulgar and there's nothing that resembles nudity. At one point the words "vagina" and "penis" are used. There is also that reference mentioned earlier when Ken asks Barbie to stay the night, but he doesn't know what that really means. Ken does try to kiss Barbie more than once.
