On Tuesday, the Walt Disney Co. announced it has pushed the release of Avatar 3 back a year, bumping it from December 2024 to December 2025. The timeline is stretched even further for the next planned instalments. Avatar 4 is now slated to hit theatres in December 2029; Avatar 5 is set to arrive in December 2031.
The franchise's third installment is expected to hit theaters in 2025, with Avatar 4 following in 2029 and Avatar 5 in 2031, and that may not be the end of the story. While talking to PEOPLE in February 2024, Cameron said that he already has ideas for even more films in the franchise.
Avatar 4 and 5 are currently set to be released in December 2029 and December 2031. The thing is, James Cameron said that they still have to film most of avatar 4 and none of Avatar 5 has been filmed yet. He said they will begin filming them back to back in 2026.

The character Jake Sully has been the narrator of both the first Avatar (watch it Here) and the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water (read our review Here), but now franchise mastermind James Cameron has revealed that he is losing his narration job as of Avatar 3, which is set to reach theatres on December 20, 2024.
