This movie is a little frightening even for teens. If your child is easily scared, wait 'till 15. If they are SUPER easily scared, definitely wait 'till 16-17. Some adults were afraid of this movie but those people watched it back when it came out and it was very realistic back then.
A horror classic, but keep it away from kids! Any parent should keep this movie away from kids. It may be a classic, but it's a mature classic. This movie is very complex when it comes to religion, but also incredibly scary to some people to this day.

Can a 14 year old watch the conjuring? There are no inappropriate scenes however the movie can be disturbing to some people because they talk about suicide,ghosts,etc. If your kids are 11+ and are mature for their age i think this horror movie is a hit and you should watch it!
I gave it the 14+ rating because I believe younger horror fans who have seen say, Halloween can handle it; however, it will require a post viewing conversation to help younger views make sense of its larger themes of collective trauma and violence perpetrated against Black Americans.
However, it is incredibly unlikely that it was subject of a demonic curse, merely the result of delayed production allowing more time for outside tragedy, and insane directing methods from Friedkin inside the house.
