Adults are welcome to hug characters. There is no rule against it! Characters love all their friends regardless of age, and some of the best interactions *I've had were with adult guests who embraced the moment.
The rule goes all the way back to Walt Disney himself. It's called “The Hug Rule”. The Hug Rule…is that characters may never let go of a hug first. The child may hug as long as they want. Why? Walt said “You never know how much that child may need that hug.”
Disney Hug Rule: The character isn't to pull away until the child pulls away. You never know how much they really need that hug and it's just something small that can have a big impact. Even Disney cast members understand how important and sacred this process is to those who visit these places of magic.

Depending on who you ask, the 'Disney hug rule' is something unofficial that has simply grown to become standard operating procedure or is actually part of the training. Either way, the idea is that a Disney character will never let go of the hug first. Especially if a child is involved.
But that's not true. The real reason the cast members always use two fingers is that in some cultures — particularly in Asian cultures, where pointing tends to be associated with blame — it is considered extremely rude to point with your index finger. And nobody needs that at Disney.

At the time of activation, a ticket will be associated with one Guest. Each ticket holder will have their photo taken at the park entrance. That photo will be used to verify each Guest when they use their ticket for re-entry on the same day as well as on subsequent days for a multi-day ticket.

Does it cost money to take pictures with characters at Disney?
While having your photo taken using the Disney PhotoPass service is free of charge, downloading or keeping photos comes at an additional cost. Walt Disney World offers a few photo packages, including Memory Maker, that can be added on to your vacation so that you don't miss a single moment!
