Colossus is one of the strongest X-Men, but he's completely outclassed by the Hulk. He's not weak by any stretch of the imagination but the problem is that he doesn't do anything that's going to allow him to hurt the Hulk.
One of the most physically powerful X-Men, Colossus is a force to be reckoned with. He would be able to put up a good fight against Thanos and even get close to beating him but he wouldn't be able to keep Thanos down and that would be a problem.

Claremont, by the way, wrote the SECOND time that Wolverine couldn't cut through something with his Adamantium claws, which occurred in X-Men #102 (by Claremont, Dave Cockrum and Sam Grainger), when Wolverine tried to cut the Juggernaut... only to realize that that was not going to work out for him.

The first fight found Hyperion beating Hulk back into his Bruce Banner form. Their most recent fight during Heroes Reborn #2 by Jason Aaron, Dale Keown, and Ed McGuinness found a new Hyperion fighting the Hulk. This fight involved Hyperion killing Hulk multiple times until he stopped getting up again.
Losses against Hulk, Superman, and Thor confirm that while he could do some damage, Juggernaut just isn't in Hyperion's weight class... which is what made it so satisfying to see him get to stomp the arrogant, would-be invader when they actually crossed paths, even if he did ultimately cheat his way to the win.
