I'd recommend this series to readers 12 and older. Also, it is mostly appropriate for young readers. There is no profanity or sex, but there is a large amount of violence and gore, especially in The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure, and The Kill Order.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials has some sexual activity. For example, one scene shows a group of young people dancing. A teenage girl wraps her arms around the neck of the boy she is dancing with and kisses him passionately on the mouth.
It is very suspenseful throughout and includes some intensely violent and disturbing scenes, including a suicide and the violent deaths of teenagers. It is therefore not suitable for children under 13, and not recommended for under 15 year olds, therefore, parental guidance is advised for 13 and 14 year olds.
The author never states that any of the characters are explicitly Lgbtq+. There isn't much romance anyway though, and only two real couples. The reason you may be confused is many people do believe that the main character (Thomas) is bi. He is shipped with Newt, and Minho.

May be starting for some viewers. Thomas gets his memory erased, which maybe alarming for some people. The film is filled with intense chasing and escaping scenes. The "Grievers" are monsters which are creepy and scary, especially when they are attacking the characters.
This movie has several violent and disturbing scenes, so it's most suited to older teenagers and young adults. It isn't recommended for children under 13 years, and we recommend parental guidance for children aged 13-15 years.
Meanwhile, while 'The Hunger Games' scores points for characterisation, 'Maze Runner' offers a far better quality of visceral action. If tightly-focused, heart-pounding sci-fi is more your thing, you'll appreciate 'Maze Runner'. If you're a sucker for social commentary, you'll love 'The Hunger Games'.
While I'm actually glad that there was so little real romance in the Maze Runner series, I did think it rather odd that none of the other boys had girlfriends, but Thomas had two! I also don't know what to make of the relationship between Aris and Teresa, because they seem to have largely ignored each other in TDC.

All in all, The Maze Runner film adaptation is a fun movie, worth watching. Many elements are changed form the novel, but that's mainly to create a more fun experience for watchers. Always watch the movies after reading the books, but if you have already watched the movie — still read the book!
The Maze Runner film itself is a science fiction, dystopian, action-adventure film trilogy. The acting is top notch. Of course, there is room for improvement, but overall, it's good.
Thomas knows it's Teresa, though she still won't communicate with him. He insists on following her alone into the building. She screams when he tries to touch her. Thomas realizes she's not in control of her body until she suddenly steps forward and kisses him.
The emotional intensity is definitely doubled up in the movie, establishing Teresa as a Thomas' one true love interest. Unlike Dashner's original story, the possibility of him dating Brenda is eliminated, and the audiences also get enough time to process the death of a character introduced right from the first movie.
Rating: PG-13, for thematic elements and intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, including some disturbing images. This is yet another sci-fi thriller based on yet another young adult novel set in a rigidly structured, dystopian future.
THE MAZE RUNNER is a film in which a group of young people find themselves in a glade where the only escape appears to be through a dangerous maze. Scenes of violence include fighting between the young people in the glade, with some heavy punches and blows.
Not for kids. I was really surprised and annoyed at the level of violence, horrible zombie creatures and sexual themes. Definitely nothing like the first movie. I would probably not even let my 16 year old watch this.
