Why Yes in fact Carnage has done some good things. During the axis storyline Carnage's moral compass is shifted so he now wants to become a hero instead of a villain.
It's revealed that Eddie has always been destined to be tied with the Venom symbiote and that his destiny is to become a new god of symbiotes, the King in Black. More importantly, the Eventuality explains how Eddie is now the only man for this role.
He has absorbed other symbiotes to make himself stronger, imbued himself with dark magic from the infamous Darkhold, and was even baptized with evil energies by Knull, the eldritch god of the symbiotes, who bolstered Carnage's power with that of an unspeakably strong symbiote dragon called Grendel.
By eating Carnage, Venom is effectively returning his spawn back to his former "unborn" state within Venom's mass, not taking anything he didn't already have into his cells.

He is one of the versions of Venom that are Pure Evil alongside the Raimiverse counterpart, the Spectacular Spider-Man version, and his Reign counterpart. Cletus survived the fall, but to his dismay, Venom ate Carnage before it could re-bond to him. As Venom picked the utterly defeated serial killer up, Cletus admitted that while he was a killer with or without the symbiote and that he really desired Eddie's friendship.
Seemingly killed by the Sentry, Carnage eventually returned more powerful than ever and began harboring megalomaniacal ambitions of conquest and godhood. Cletus perished while separated from his symbiote, but a cult worshiping the symbiote god Knull bonded him to a new symbiote linked to the dark god, reanimating him.
Carnage's fusion with the Grendel symbiote made him ridiculously strong, easily overpowering the Hulk. Carnage's full potential allowed him to tap into a force connected to the birth of the Marvel multiverse, giving him god-like power.
With every symbiote, the ability to spawn a new puts the former in danger, as there is a possibility of the spawn is normally more powerful than the former. Knowing this, if venom were to spawn again, carnage would be rendered useless against the newer spawn, whether it be his or venom's.
While coming close to killing Spider-Man numerous times in battles since their initial encounter, Venom also began to act as an antihero of sorts, hunting down and often killing people it believed to be guilty, while attempting to protect those in danger.
Perhaps the Marvel Universe's deadliest symbiote, Carnage debuted in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1963) #345. Shortly after spawning from Venom, the Carnage symbiote bonded to a serial killer named Cletus Kasady.
Brock's time as the formal God of Symbiotes was short-lived, and while throughout this new dark era he has remained the King in Black, using his connection to the symbiote hive mind several times, he has been very disconnected from his full power as a cosmic Marvel God.
Summary. Dylan Brock faces his biggest challenge as Carnage finally kills Venom in a shocking turn of events in Venom #31. In the Un-Beyond, Dylan encounters the most powerful version of Eddie Brock, known as the Eventuality, hinting at potential power-ups.
The Venom symbiote's animosity toward Spider-Man stems from its initial bond with him. In the comics, Spider-Man rejected the symbiote when he realized it was trying to permanently bond with him, and he removed it. This rejection left the symbiote with a strong sense of betrayal and anger.
While in prison, Venom produces an offspring named Carnage. (He reproduces asexually, in case you were wondering.) Venom doesn't tell Eddie about it, and Venom and Eddie escape prison. Once they're gone, Carnage bonds with Cletus.
The sonic noise also harms the symbiote and causes Venom to cower away from Hulk in agony. While Venom is down, Hulk informs him that he's here to help the earthquake victims and the two heavy-weights finally see eye-to-eye and agree to work together. Leaving the Hulk as the winner of the fight.
