It is revealed later that Celebrimbor was not, in truth, immediately killed at the hands of Sauron, after the Dark Lord's assault on Eregion, but instead brought to Mordor to perfect the One Ring. It is here that Celebrimbor imbues the ring with a "mind of its own".
Captured by Sauron, the elf was then tortured as punishment, such as witnessing his family tortured and killed in front of him, before finally being beaten to death with his own Mithril hammer by Sauron.
Celebrimbor is slain personally by Sauron, but Sauron does not get the Three Rings. His wrath now blazes. Elrond with all (the few) refugees from Eregion he can gather fight a vanguard action and draw away N.W. He founds a stronghold in Imladris.
About Celebrimbor and the ending. So, in one of the last cutscenes you see Celebrimbor actually helping Sauron to forge the One Ring. Celebrimbor escapes and later we see him in what I assume The War of the Elves and Sauron, and the ring decieves Celebrimbor and fall on Sauron's finger.

Why did Celebrimbor turn evil?
Having been corrupted by the One Ring long ago, Celebrimbor now exists as an undead wraith, determined to not only get his revenge on Sauron but also to replace Sauron as a would-be ruler of Middle-earth. This is reflected in how he is the "Bright Lord" to Sauron's "Dark Lord".
In Telerin High-Elf Celebrimbor Version he is the follower of Galadriel's boyfriend/husband Celeborn. One of the three Teleri who accompanied Celeborn to Exile when he left Aman to follow Galadriel into Middle-earth.
She said all this to Celebrimbor, who decided to make her the Elessar so she could have everything she had wished. When he gave it to her, he told her it was because of his love for her, even though she had chosen Celeborn to marry.
He is, after all, from a younger generation than Galadriel herself, she being his second cousin once removed, and while one can play around with his unknown birthdate (he might conceivably be older than Galadriel if you push Curufin back in time and Finarfin forward), it is a stretch to make him substantially older.

He is old, but elves don't age in Tolkien's writings. Galadriel certainly doesn't. There are several possible answers: Círdan is one of the oldest elves to ever have lived, thousands of years older than Galadriel, (about 30,000 years old), and this might contribute to the look of old age.
As his "lifeforce" is imbude in the ring which prevents him from going into the Elven afterlife, and as such keeps him in the mortal plane. But he is a wraith in the first game, before his new ring is ever created. The ritual done to Tallion at the beginning of Shadow of Mordor summoned Celebrimbor into Tallion's body.

Elrond's was born nearly 600 years after Galadriel, but he was born as a half-elf, and so until he made the choice to become an elf, he aged at a faster rate, though still slower than mortals. Gandalf is much older, because Galadriel was an Elf one of the Children of Illuvatar which awoke in the First Age. Gandalf was a Maia, one of the lesser spirits created by Eru since before the beginning of time. So, Gandalf is much older than Galadriel.
Although Celebrimbor forged the Three Rings alone in Eregion, they were moulded by Sauron's craft and were bound to the One. Sauron seemed to genuinely feel a connection to her, and part of that came from sensing the darkness inside of Galadriel. In that regard, his offer was really a seduction to the dark side.
Sauron did desire Galadriel... He desired to make her his puppet-Queen. He didn't have any romantic feeling for her. He didn't want to marry her or have romance with her.
Arwen. Galadriel's granddaughter and the daughter of Celebrían and Elrond. After the War of the Ring, Arwen marries Aragorn II Elessar and becomes Queen of the Reunited Kingdom of Arnor and Gondor. Like other Half-Elves, Arwen has the birthright to choose either immortality among the Elves or mortality among Men.
Like Elrond, some of Galadriel's powers stemmed from the Ring of Power that she held in her possession. Nenya, the ring of water, had the powers of preservation and concealment from evil, which Galadriel used to create Lothlórien and keep it safe from outside influences.
Galadriel is Elrond's mother-in-law, and Arwen's grandmother; as is Celeborn, Galadriel's husband. Arwen's mother, was Elrond's wife, and Galadriel's daughter, Celebrian; named for her silver hair, that she apparently got from her father, Celeborn.
