As revealed in Freddy's Dead, Freddy was married to a woman named Loretta prior to his public exposure as a serial killer, and the two had a daughter named Katherine. Loretta made the terrible mistake of discovering Freddy's secret room in the basement, in which he kept all his murder trophies.
Freddy tortures animals and engages in self-mutilation, and becomes a serial killer by murdering the children of people who had bullied him when he was a child. Prior to his murder, he is married to a woman named Loretta (Lindsey Fields), whom he eventually also murders.

It's hard to picture Freddy being 26 in his brief backstory flashbacks no matter which actor is playing the role, although it is certainly impossible to imagine Haley's version being less than 30.
In the origin version he simply murdered them, using his iconic slasher hand. It was never implied that he raped them or molested them. He was murdered by the parents of Springwood after he was released on a technicality. in the newest edition from 2010, they made it clear Freddie was also molested children.
