Moore spoke about Q and Picard's unique relationship in the companion book to the documentary series of the same name, The Center Seat - 55 Years of Trek by Peter Holmstrom. Read his quote below: Internally, what we said all the time was Q is in love with Picard. That was the fundamental of the relationship.
"As I leave, I leave you free." For once, Q was not acting as part of some grander design but simply because he cared about Picard and genuinely wanted to help his friend.
Q, on the other hand, takes an intensely disdainful attitude towards beings he views as “inferior.” Picard was correct that respect is earned and Q has done nothing worthy of earning it. This concept, foreign to Q, explains his obsession with Jean-Luc Picard.
The entire purpose of Q's plot was to rid Picard of the guilt he felt over his mother's suicide, which had subconsciously isolated Picard for most of his life. Q ultimately revealed he was dying, and he was meeting his end alone, a fate he didn't want for Picard, who he had grown to genuinely love.
Q seemed frightened of Guinan, telling Picard that she is "not what she appears to be," and that Picard should remove her from the Enterprise. Considering Q's abilities, it's unclear why he would be afraid of Guinan, and Star Trek has never offered a real explanation for Q's reaction.
Q. The Q are potentially the least likely to get assimilated, for not just one reason but two. Firstly, their near omnipotence and god-like powers would make it almost impossible for a Borg, or even all Borg working together, to capture a Q.
The Borg ship suddenly reactivates and begins pursuit, gaining on the Enterprise. Q appears on the bridge and warns Picard that the Borg will never stop chasing them, and cannot be defeated.
Star Trek: The Next Generation writer Ronald D. Moore says that John de Lancie's Q was "in love with" Captain Jean-Lic Picard (Patrick Stewart), and that's one of the reasons why their relationship worked so well.
') The creators do go some way to explain this is the show. Q appears at first as the young that man Picard and audiences know, thanks to some fancy de-aging CGI. He would then snap his fingers to appear much older to match his old friend Picard, turning himself into de Lancie as he looks today.
While Q's plotting in Picard season 2 was weirdly convoluted even for him, the slap was a jolt that communicated his urgent need for Jean-Luc to finally step up and take notice.
To explain why Q appears much older in this season than he did in The Next Generation, the character initially appears the same as he did in that series—with de Lancie being digitally de-aged—before choosing to age himself to match the older Picard.
Q replies that Picard matters to him and with his last gasp of immortal energy returns our heroes to the 25th century but not before realising what it all means, Picard gives Q a goodbye hug ensuring that Q himself does not die unloved and alone.
What was Q trying to tell Picard in all good things?
Q tells Picard that during that one moment, his mind was open to possibilities that he had never considered before. That is the journey that truly awaits humanity, exploring the unknown possibilities of existence.
He then withdraws from the courtroom and bids farewell to Picard by saying "See you ... out there". Picard then returns to the Enterprise of the present, no longer jumping through time.
Q was thought to have died at the end of Picard season 2, but when Jack points that out, Q admonishes him for thinking so linearly. The long and the short of it is: Q is eternal, and he has something in mind for the progeny of his longtime fixation, Jean-Luc Picard.
As the god war rages across the galaxy, Q, Star Trek's omnipotent trickster god, arrives for one last prank on humanity–namely Captain Benjamin Sisko and the crew of the USS Theseus.
He was able to reconcile with his friend and opponent Jean-Luc; marking his final moments with a rather noble act. While Gul Dukat was a force of evil throughout his entire journey on Deep Space Nine, Q alternated between enemy and ally throughout his run across the Star Trek universe.
Other times, notably during "Deja Q" and Voyager, Q appears to the crew seeking assistance. Gene Roddenberry chose the letter "Q" in honor of his friend Janet Quarton.
Why Did Q Create Star Trek: Picard's Confederation Timeline? For Jean-Luc Picard to mentally process the long-gestating trauma of his mother's death, Q needed to give Picard a shot at altering that harrowing moment.
Star Trek: Picard season 3 revealed that Crusher and Picard did have a romantic relationship at some point, presumably after Star Trek: Nemesis. Star Trek: Picard season 3 revealed that Beverly and Jean-Luc even had a son together, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers).
Q says “Mon Capitaine.” Picard is French. At the beginning of the series, there was an attempt by the writers to always annoy Picard by having someone make an off comment about the Captain's French ancestory.
Later in her life she realizes Picard has fallen in love with her. As time goes by, both Crusher and Picard try to conceal their feelings from each other. Their relationship advances in "Attached", when the two are linked telepathically and their romantic feelings are revealed.
The Borg, while still a powerful threat, are nothing compared to this type of power. The Q are not only able to defeat their entire race without breaking a sweat, but can also eradicate any trace of their existence altogether.
Only one Queen exists at any given time; when she is destroyed, a new Queen takes her place. In Star Trek: Voyager, it's revealed that the Borg Queen isn't a singular entity, but the name given to any that serves as its host, possessing all previous Queen's collective consciousness.
