In the finale, Spencer wins a sword duel on yet another ship trying to return home to his embattled Montana family. Yes, somehow that sword duel was demanded by snot-nosed aristocratic Arthur (Rafe Soule), the bitterly jealous ex-fiancé of Spencer's new wife, Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer).
1923 ended on a cliffhanger for Alex and Spencer. The couple were separated after a fight broke out onboard the Rms Mauretania, and Spencer accidentally killed Alex's ex-fiance. The couple swore to meet each other in Bozeman, Mt. However, the theory that Alex is already pregnant might complicate their journey.
Although we don't meet him in 1883, we learn in 1923 that James and Margaret had a third child, Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar), who was born after the family settled in Montana.

One popular theory among fans is that Teonna is in some way an ancestor of "Yellowstone" character Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), the adopted son of rancher John Dutton III (Kevin Costner). While viewers of the flagship series know who Jamie's biological father is, the identity of his mother has never been revealed.
Spencer Dutton is the younger son of James (Tim McGraw) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) from the 1883 series. He is also the younger brother of John Dutton Sr (James Badge Dale). As James Dutton from 1883 was John Dutton's great-grandfather, this makes Spencer one of John's grandfathers.

Julia Schlaepfer plays Alexandra in 1923. Her character is a beautiful British woman from a powerful and wealthy family. Alex leaves all that behind to run away with Spencer Dutton, but she, of course, still has a refined way of speaking.
The important takeaway is that Alex is royalty, which means she has money. And who needs money? The man and woman who raised her new husband needs money to pay back Montana miner Donald Whitfield after he put a lien on the ranch when he paid the Duttons' property taxes.
Alex's friend helped her escape confinement, but she didn't have enough time to jump into the dingy taking the handcuffed Spencer to shore. They cried out their “I love yous,” Alex said she'd meet him in Montana, and their final scene ended with the newlyweds heartbreakingly separated.

Alex (Julia Schlaepfer) and Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) first meet while Spencer is away from Montana traipsing through Africa, ignoring letters from his aunt Cara (Helen Mirren) back home, and the two have already spent their time fighting lions and exploring remote and gorgeous locations.
Jacob's wife and the unwavering matriarch of the Dutton clan on 1923, Cara is related to Yellowstone's Dutton family by marriage, and is the great-grandaunt or great-great-grandaunt of John Dutton III, who runs the ranch in the show's modern era.
How much younger is Spencer Dutton than John Dutton?
Yellowstone fans will recall, the first time Spencer was ever mentioned was during a season four flashback. The scene featured John Dutton Sr as a teenager and Spencer who was not much older than seven years old. This means Spencer should be somewhere in his mid-to-late thirties in 1923.
James does return, but it turns out he's been shot, with the first episode of 1923 confirming - via Elsa Dutton's ghostly voiceover narration - that he died of that bullet shortly after. Elsa also reveals that Margaret wrote to Jacob to come help her and her sons at the ranch in the aftermath.
Alex and Spencer got married on the ship and were hopeful of a pleasant future together, but were still far from home. Back in Montana, Jacob had almost made a full recovery, but Cara informed the sheriff about the massacre they were involved in. The sheriff then arrived at the ranch to have a word with Jacob.
Remember back in 7x01 when Spencer appeared to Hanna in a dream she had while she was kidnapped? It turns out that wasn't a dream at all. That was actually Alex pretending to be Spencer as she comforted Hanna and sang her a lullaby.
The answer to the question of whether or not Spencer and Alex have a baby in 1923 remains to be seen, as the series is still ongoing. However, the possibility of their having a child together would have significant implications for the Dutton family and the storyline of the show.
Meanwhile, fan-favorite Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott) made good on his promise to see the Pacific Ocean so his late wife could “use [his] eyes to see the world” — then promptly shot himself.
